Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is just the right amount of down, so it isn't too warm to sleep under it. I am pleased with everything about this down blanket. It has just the right amount of down fill to not be too warm to use. The two fabrics it's made of go well together; a polyester, satiny edge strip all the way around, and a cotton sheet-like fabric for the main body of the blanket (I think it's 300 thread count). One of the things I like most is that the squares containing the down are sewn together all the way around each one. (We have another down piece without this feature, and the down shifts from the center to the edges, requiring frequent redistribution of the down.) I have a king sized duvet cover which came from JCP years ago, and it fits this blanket perfectly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks nice Nice blanket, but feels a little scratchy even after 4 or more washings, a bit over priced, beautiful color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Down filled blanket When down comforters are just too warm, this down blanket is the perfect solution. It is perfect for summer when the air is on. It is perfect in fall and spring with the windows open. It even works in the winter. This is well worth the price, especially on sale. My only problem with this order is that it is shipped from the manufacturer. The first shipment I received was a fleece blanket. Definitely had no down in that blanket, and was not what I wanted. When I took it back to the store, the clerk was very helpful about ordering a new blanket, and I received what I wanted in a very short time frame.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This blanket has a very thin layer of down so it is comfortable for fall's cool nights. This blanket has a crinkly finish to the cover. I expected a softer quality material. So far the blanket is just right for the fall nights. May not be warm enough for colder winter nights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great blanket Coming out of the bag this is just what I was looking for. It feels to be of good quality and I like the fact that there are color choices other than just white as most down blankets are. However, I probably would not have purchased it if it were not on sale and I had reward certificates as I feel the full price is a bit high.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice blanket - Sweepstakes Entry We wanted a slightly warmer blanket and chose this one. We thought it was a bit expensive but we purchased it when it was on sale, but after receiving it it would have been worth the full price. It was a bit stiff out of the package, but once washed it was much softer. The blanket is very light weight but nice and warm. I would definitely recommend this blanket if you're looking for a light weight but warm blanket. Sweepstakes Entry

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soft, quiet, just right! Long length, ample feathers, good color, like everything about my new comforter!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just what I was looking for I'm very picky when it comes to my linens, I like them crisp, but soft, I like the feel of a good heavy cotton. This blanket is warm and cozy. I got it on sale and the price was right.

I use my as a blanket under a bedspread, but I don't see why you couldn't use it in a duvet cover.

Answer:
We always use a duvet cover on our down blankets. Down products are washable, but it's not easily done. When down is washed, it forms into balls of wet feathers which may or may not separate in the dryer. Tennis balls in the dryer with the down piece usually help. If you use a duvet cover, and it gets dirty, simply take it off and machine wash and dry it, and put it back on the down blanket. We have cats, so there is always cat hair on our beds, and sometimes an "urped-up" hairball. The duvet cover keeps such things off the down piece.

Answer:
This is a blanket to be used under a comforter or quilt. The cotton cover is nice and the warmth is great just enough warmth but not too much. I love it and will use this all year.

Re "Do down blankets have a covering or a decorative casement that encompasses them or do you use them in place of a blanket under a bedspread?"
My answer: This blanket is not a comforter, but is a lighter version of a comforter and has a satin binding like some blankets. No covering or encasement is required. I use a sheet under it (not required) and remove my bedspread when using the blanket at night. I like this product because it is light weight (unlike most comforters), yet much provides more warmth than the two blankets it replaced.

Answer:
The down blanket itself is very nice looking. Mine is midnight blue. I use it as a coverlet over flannel (in the fall) or fleece (in the winter) sheets.

Thread Count?
Hello,
I am curious if there is a thread count listing for the cover of this blanket? I do not see one in the description, and some of the comments mention how the outside is a bit scratchy and not soft.
Thanks

Answer:
I don't recall that a thread count was mentioned. I washed my blanket before first use because I have sensitive skin. The blanket sounds noisier than cotton blankets, but is soft and not scratchy.

Answer:
Some of the most luxurious and ultra soft natural cotton products I have ever bought have not had a thread count. A high thread count does not necessarily mean it is of the highest quality or softness. I have found that at times, some manufactures like Downs Linens prefer to use a description such as "ultra soft" to describe the softness of their bedding. I find this to be appropriate. As for the comment on scratchy. I have not noticed this. When my blanket arrived it was neatly folded, maybe compressed to help it fit in a small plastic bag. I immediately washed it to fluff it up. It feels even softer now that it has been washed and dried.
