Rated 1 out of 5 by plan to return item to store I am generally very happy with my purchases from JCPenny , but I am extremely disappointed in this product. Very cheap looking. The material used feels like a shower curtain and is stiff to handle. The backing is made of a heavier plastic. I am sure its fine for the "thermal" part of it, but it is all cheap looking. The plastic hardware and top runner is incredibly cheap. I plan to return them as soon as possible. September 12, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Nice looking shade, pretty color. I got the shades in grey. The color is nice. My complaint is about the plastic hardware that came with it. Very cheap, I wish it came with metal brackets. I have dogs that lift the shades and I am concerned about how long these will stay up with the cheap hardware. Other than that, they look pretty and up to date with todays fashion. September 13, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Nice shade I really looked around for a roman shade in the green color I purchased. I do love the color and the fabric and the way it folds when the shade is pulled up. The only reason I did not give it a five rating is because I replaced other roman shades which had been hanging for several years and were finally showing wear and some discoloration. Those shades, however, came with metal hanging brackets which were quite sturdy. This shade came with plastic and the only thing that keeps the shade in the bracket is a tiny screw attached to a small little piece of plastic. The shades will stay pulled half way up my window because they are more decorative to me than functional. If I was one to raise and lower them all the time I would question their durability and wonder how long it would take for that little plastic piece to break off. For the price I would have preferred a more durable bracket for hanging. March 11, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by lovely shades these shades were easy to install and look fabulous! keep light out like a charm! love em! July 19, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by The fabric and workmanship is very good. I like these blinds very much. They fit my windows perfectly and I love the color and fabric. My only concern is for the quality of the hanging apparatus. It is not as good quality as the previous blinds I have had for many years and I worry that it may not hold up as well. Otherwise I love these insulated shades and they do a great job cutting down the heat that comes in during our hot summers.. April 20, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Nice shades, with some caveats... Product Pros: Shade itself is made of sturdy material, blocks light and should provide thermal value. Installation was simple and completed with a Phillips screwdriver. Fabric side has nice linen weave look. Product cons: Fabric was described in catalog as polyester/linen, but lining actually has a heavier, plastic-like feel and needs coaxing to fold smoothly when raised. The cord stop on one shade does not hold both cords tightly, causing one end of shade to droop whenever it is raised. The other shade has pulled out of the hanging bracket several times while pulling the cord to raise the shade, requiring us to use one hand to support the header or risk breaking the bracket or clips. Hanging hardware is all plastic, am hoping it will hold up to operation of these heavy shades. October 22, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by The product did not meet my expectations I have ordered Roman Shades In the past and was very pleased not this time fabric looks cheap and they do not fit very well I ordered for too rooms we hung 3 in one room but returned the others January 18, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Roman blinds It is not stated in the description but the white backing is PVC, not a poly fabric, so it gives the blinds a stiff, plastic feel. They are very creased and stiff, so I'm hoping they'll loosen up after hanging for a couple of weeks. I ordered three of the shades in the "natural" color, two of them were darker, almost tan, and one was cream. Luckily I needed two in one room and one in another so I was able to separate them, but the quality control is not good. Also, the mounting brackets are plastic so I hope they don't break over time. That being said, the linen-like texture looks nice, the price was reasonable and they block the light well. January 25, 2014

I'm trying to decide what size to get based on how these mount. I have old windows and I think I would need to mount them outside the frame. Can you do that with these shades?

Answer:
These roman shades mounted outside. (My windows would require custom sizes for inside mounting.) It was easy to follow the directions. They are good quality. The lovely color is true to what you see on the computer.

Answer:
I had them mounted on the top of the window frame. My windows are not deep enough to have an inside mount.
They are a little wrinkled at first but as time goes on, they unwrinkled and look really nice. They also keep the room dark.

My window is such that I need to put the bracket on the top of the inside of the window. The first product I ordered had side mounts and that will not work on my window.
Thank you.

Answer:
Yes they can be installed with an inside top mount and is fairly easy to do. The only problem I had pertained to my inside window casings not being true to size from top to bottom. But was able to make it work for all four windows with an inside mount. I am pleased with the final look.

You shorten the shade by pulling it up. It folds as it get shorter. You can make it as short as you want or let it down to 64".
