Hi csa: thanks for answering! I did go with the 16, since this shirt was for my son, and he definitely prefers a looser neckline, since he's not used to wearing ties. We went into the store and had someone there confirm his measurement -- 15.5 -- and his arm length -- 32 -- and I purchased the 16 for him and it fits him well. These shirts tend to fit snugly the sales clerks told us (even though they do not carry this specific shirt in-store) and they were right. I do appreciate you answering my question. Apparently, knowing how the brand "runs" makes a difference, too, and that's where the live JCPenney sales staff was quite helpful. I ordered it via their in-store online ordering service, so if it had been wrong, they would have returned it at no cost to me. I liked that I did not have to worry about shipping and possibly return shipping charges if I had guessed wrong initially. Thanks again!
