This ring I gave as a gift and it's beautiful. As you stated, the image on my telephone shows it under their photographer's lights as a bright blue. But you are correct, the ring is truly a darker blue that looks like a true sapphire, of which I personally own--closer to a navy more so than royal (lapis) blue. It is not similar to a blue lapis-colored stone, but darker. But I think if if you put it under a microscopic bright light, such as with a zoom camera, it may appear more medium blue (royal blue).
