Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Sound, May Confuse Children My son is 2 years old and loves to do puzzles. He especially enjoyed this one because it was his first "sound" puzzle. He was amazed and excited the first time he heard it "speak". I do like the fact that the puzzle states the name of the shape once you put it over its corresponding space. My son immediately repeats the shape name after it "speaks". My only con is no matter what shape you are holding, if you hover it close enough to a space that it does not belong, it will "speak" the name of the space you hovered over. For example, if you have a triangle, and your child is trying to figure out where to place the piece, if he/she passes over the octagon space, it will say octagon. My son will then say octagon even though he's holding a triangle piece. I correct him immediately. So, my advice is to do the puzzle with your child so they don't get confused or misinformed on their shapes. Otherwise I think you're better off with getting a non-sounding shape puzzle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great toy! I go home to home to work with young children and this is one of the staples I always have in my bag. the names are clear, the pictures are simple and it is colorful. In order to keep up with the national movement toward mathematics, the name diamond is outdated. It should now be rhombus. I would also love to see an off/on switch so that I can keep the pieces in a baggie for portability. Great toy!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from confusing for children was so excited to have my son play with this only to be disappointed. for example if you try to put the square piece into the rectangle spot you would not expect to hear any sound b/c they don't match up but it will still say aloud square. this could be confusing to a child who is trying to learn their shapes. i think if the shape doesn't match up with the correct puzzle piece there should be no sound at all. the child should be rewarded with the correct sound for matching the correct piece with the correct shape. of course kids aren't going to get it right the first time, that is what they are trying to learn. i think this could be confusing for them. i am returning this to the store.
