I have always been pleased with Melissa and Doug toys, so I didn't think twice about buying this. Unfortunately in day one I have already had two issues. 1) the assembly instructions were wrong. And I don't mean I couldn't figure them out. I means the booklet was missing page 3, but I had two copies of pages 2 and 7.f 2) when I had this problem with the instructions, I thought no worries I'd just download the corrected version I assumed they would have on their website. I couldn't find any. 3) the cuts and holes looked like they were made with dull bits/blades. They were so jagged that I had to spend some time on them with sandpaper before I would let my kids near it. Disappointed.

Love, love, love, this easel. Multiple activities all in one. Perfect portable organized art center. Folded foot print with trays on is 14 inches with trays removed 6 inches. Trays continue to hold chalk/dry erase markers/paint cups with lids on even in the folded position. Perks: Draw or paint for 2. Comes with paper holder. Clips hold paper in place. And bar to pin paper in place & tear it off too. Chalk board. Dry Erase Board. Trays on both sides permit 1 or 2 to paint without fights over My Red Paint Cup/Brush. Clips to hold paper in place while painting/coloring. Cons/But would happen with any easel: Not for the child who is hard on toys. If they put too much pressure on the trays (paint holder/chalk holder), they will break off. The pro is that you can call and order a replacement tray. We have had paint/creative play dates and initially our friends thought I was crazy until they saw how well it worked. We could actually talk for 10 minutes at a time instead of chasing our 2 year olds in different directions. Yes!!!!

My 4 year granddaughter was so excited with this easel. At preschool this is her favorite thing to do. Her 2 year old sister is excited to paint to. Their daddy, my son, has an art project and he is using it too. Everybody is loving the easel!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy2shp greatest purchase for my grandchild.
I needed a easel for my autistic grandchild and wanted one that would last and have all the things you want an easel to have such as blackboard and dry eraser board. This one had all that plus a place for a roll of paper. It was easy to put together and has met all my expectations also. The adults are even having fun with it.
I would recommend it greatly to anyone who is needing an easel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lacybug Excellent quality - should last a long time
I am very pleased with this purchase. I ordered this for my granddaughter who is 4. This arrived when promised. Packaged very well with all pieces labeled. I put it together the night before and it took me about an hour as I was doing it by myself. The directions in the book were easy to follow, all the pieces were marked perfectly. I didn't have to drill extra holes, have mismatched parts, or have trouble following the directions. It is very well made and looks very nice. It will last a long time. My granddaughter loves it and has already spent many hours on it. I purchased the accessory set as well, but have not let her try the paints yet, but I will in time. I am extremely pleased with the price and my purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by J and J and J impossible to assemble
Long screws are not long enough. Both trays are too short to fit. Paper roll dowel too short. Pre-assembled screws on hinges loose and pop out. We can't assemble it as instructed with pieces supplied.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kate Better for older children
Overall I like this easel. We purchased this as a gift for our son on his third birthday and he loved it (and so did his friends!) We controlled access to the paint and dry erase markers, but we left the chalk out all the time and it was constantly in use. My only complaint about this toy is the hardware is extremely easy for little ones to un-screw! My 18 month old was constantly taking bits of the easel apart and I was worried it would collapse on one of the kids while they were playing! We tried reversing the hardware so the colorful bolts weren't as noticeable or enticing, but it didn't make a difference. In the end a lot of the hardware was lost. This indicated to us that it's a toy better suited to slightly older children :)

This is an amazing easel for a young child. We bought this for our daughter (3 yrs. old-- she is now 4)last Christmas and we keep it up in our living room. It always has paint ready and available for her to use. (I am big on having creative outlets). I am not kidding when I say that she has used this gift EVERY DAY since she got it. It has been the most used Christmas gift that I have seen in my life. Other brands cost twice as much and generally the only difference is that some of them would probably fit into a living room decor a little nicer than this (keep in mind--this is for a child NOT an adult). She loves this and for me, that is what matters. My living room looks lovely with all the wonderful artwork.
