Rated 3 out of 5 by Dale Vice was stuck coming out of the box.
Melissa and Doug put out great products and we always check with them first before getting toys. We only buy toys that we believe will make it through our children and still be around for their children. I don't want it to sound like we are bashing this workbench because it is awesome and the kids love it. It's just that they would love it even more if the vice was a functioning vice. It looks like it might have been crossthreaded so it wouldn't go in or out and eventually the handle broke from them trying to make it work. Things happen, no big deal. In all fairness I have not contacted the company yet and I'm sure they will make it right. One lesson I did learn? Why not wait until February to put it together, that way they get Christmas like excitement twice! haha BTW we forgot about it being in the back of our Suburban coming back from Grandma's. It was a breeze to put together if you just take your time and follow directions.

My 6 yr old son got this for Christmas, LOVED putting it together (with parental help), took off flying with the booklet of models to make with the wooden pieces, bolts, screws, etc., and quickly began making designs of his own. His twin sister and our neighbors' children all love playing with this, too. The boys have been making everything in the project book, and some unidentified objects as well. The girls have loved this , too, but have wished that there were also project designs to make baby crib, stroller, high chair kinds of things . I'm not sure the designers anticipated this sort of interest from the girls, but it really is a big hit with mine and my neighbors'. I encountered one problem; the wooden screw on the front-mounted vice grip splintered out and broke from the repeated torque. The company cheerfully replaced the whole section quickly and at no cost. I did suggest a redesign of that particular screw of a more durable material able to stand up to the repeated twisting and pressure.I also suggested that they begin to offer supplemental design books and sets of extra building pieces. All things considered, I love this, would give it as a gift or buy is all over again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mom of 2 Excellent buy
We bought this for our rough and tough nephew that loves to be like his daddy. My husband and I put this together in about half an hour with our two year old crawling all over us and the work bench. It is very sturdy and instructions made it easy to assemble. It came with a lot of pieces to play with. My two year old daughter loved playing with it as we put it together. The wood isn't real cheap and smooth so no splinters. My only complaint is the vice as it is a little difficult to operate but still works.

I bourth this as a gift for my son on his birthday. It is everything I wanted it to be. Sturdy for a 3 year old. The different items he can build with it will grow with him instead of make him bored after time. He absolutely loves it! I'm very happy with the purchase. The price wasn't that bad either.

Rated 4 out of 5 by mechanicatheart good product
It is great to see the delight in your child's face as the project is complete. However only one project can be constructed at one time so each project that is made has to be taken apart. Wish you can buy extra pieces as I would purchase more.

My grandson has loved this. The wood does break fairly easy but still overall a good toy
