Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the shirt it used to be... I am a long-time fan of Stafford dress shirts and own any number of them, in addition to dress shirts of other brands costing much more. The white Stafford fitted dress shirts used to be my favorite go-to daily office shirt. Unfortunately, it appears that someone decided that it was time to “re-think” the fit of this shirt and I did not know that until after I bought additional Stafford fitted shirts for my wardrobe. By way of example, the neck of the new design is big enough for me to easily stick in two fingers-plus. The sleeves and shoulders of the shirts now feel like they were designed for Gumby; that is, if you have any muscles or shoulders, forget this shirt as an option, as it will appear as if someone has spray-painted you. The fabric is still good and these shirts still wash up great. But, the new cut and fit of these shirts has placed these in a category where they are some of the shirts I like the least. Off to goodwill they go. Sorry, J.C. Penney, you just lost me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Fit Stafford Broadcloth fitted white dress shirts are the best fitted shirts I have ever worn. They have the same quality look as brooks brothers. The material is quality and easy to clean and iron. I hope they never stop making this type of shirt.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Extremely thin material I ordered 4 of these shirts, in fitted size first, then regular, with my collar and sleeve measurements. I returned the fitted shirts just based on their being way too small for me in cut. I am built trim and am athletic, but do not have a body builder physique. Even so they were way too small, maybe for someone 130 rather than my 160 pounds. The collar and sleeves were dead on in length though. I then ordered in regular fit and the fit was very good. However, for both fits, the material is so thin that you can see your skin through it and the collar of a v neck t-shirt stands out like a neon sign. This was true for both fitted and regular versions. I have a Stafford super shirt which is maybe 3 years old. It is in excellent condition still and the material is not sheer like these. I will order another 2-3 of the super shirts and avoid these cheaper ones - the material is so thin they are not really worth even a very low price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Super Shirt Not So Super Anymore My husband has closet full of many colors of the Stafford Super Shirt (cotton/poly blend) as he has to wear dress shirts every day to work. We have always bought these shirts from Penneys for years. Recently, we went into the store and purchased several more shirts (Stafford Essentials...there are no more Staffaord Super shirts) for my husbands overseas business trip. When we got them out of the package and laundered them, my husband comes to me saying that the fabric of these shirts are THINNER than his other shirts. We compared them and he is right. They definitely DO NO FEEL THE SAME! These shirts are so thin....you can see through them. You hear in the news how bad JC Penney is doing but when you are cutting back on QUALITY, what do you expect? I used to buy many things from JC Penney, but have stopped because I do not feel that I am getting the quality I once did. Do you think customers don't notice?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Fit!!! The Stafford fitted shirts *used* to fit great. I still have the same fitted 15.5, 32/33 Stafford shirts I bought 2 years ago and they still fit great and would love to buy new shirts. I am not sure if they changed manufacturers or dimensions during the last 2 years or what, but now when I go to JCP to try on the exact same model of Stafford fitted shirt 15.5, 32/33. I can barely fit into them and I am not that big. You cannot bend your arms, too tight in the chest, very tight on the wrists, too loose around the stomach. Unless you are shaped like a pear with toothpicks for arms, I would *not* buy this shirt. Please JCP, go back to the original fit!!!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stafford shirts USED to be great. I recently ordered a replacement Stafford shirt (same size, color, etc.) for one that was starting to wear out. The new shirt is NOTHING like the original one. I had read other reviews about how the new Stafford shirts don't fit well anymore. I thought maybe they were written by funny-shaped people. Well, apparently I'm a funny-shaped person also. (It fits OK as long as I don't move my arms.) According to the label, it's the same "Easy-Care" 55% cotton/45% polyester blend as the original; however the new one has a sort of permanent-wrinkle quality to it instead of permanent-press like the original. (Yes, I took it out of the dryer right away, as always.) Of course, it was also more expensive than the original. But I knew that when I ordered it. (It would have still been worth it if it had been the same product as I had bought before.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great every day shirt; new "fitted" is even slimmer Have been buying these as everyday shirts for a while and they have held up well. Never like to a tailored fit but the quality has been good, especially for the price. It appears they have recently updated the cut of the shirts so that the "fitted" is now slightly slimmer throughout than the previous version. This includes both the sleeves and the body of the garment. As a result, the shirt looks more tailored which is a nice upgrade, but in my individual experience the chest is slightly too narrow for the neck size. Would be nice if they focused the "slimming" on the sleeves and body but left the chest a little larger. According to the newest fit guide, this is closer to the cut of their "Athletic" fit, but unfortunately for taller guys those do not come in a sleeve longer than 34-35. At the end of the day I still think these are hard to beat quality for the price, and if you can find the cut that fits your body type they are solid everyday shirts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality, easy care, excellent value I wanted to order shirts for my son's rustic wedding. The groomsmen wore lavender and the groom wore white. I ordered them on a Monday night and had them that Thursday. All perfect and in just the sizes I ordered. Extremely happy! I had tried to order from another site and could only order one at a time....what?!? So happy with JCP.com! I will definitely order again.

I know with many shirts the white can be almost see through because they are light.

Answer:
Stafford brand shirts are very good quality so the fabric of their shirts is not cheap, or thin. However, wearing a white T-shirt under this shirt is something I would recommend for best appearance.

Answer:
The shirt is not advertised as "wrinkle free", but my Stafford brand shirts look fine coming out of the dryer. However, you can't compare the appearance of shirt taken out of a dryer with a shirt that was pressed at your local dry cleaners. The pressed, or ironed shirt will always look better, but this shirt look pretty good coming out of the dryer. Hope this answers your question.

Answer:
They come out of the permanent press cycle nicely, and as long as you hang them up promptly, they are wrinkle free, and stay so during the course of an average day's wear.

Answer:
I always wash these on easy care (permanent press)
setting cold water and dry on med with the wrinkle free on and they get hung up directly after drying and no iron needed. The colors stay vivid and I use Clorox 2 on every color load I run. Hope this helps, Frani

It is a heavy material - it seems it will last a long time; the heavier material does make it a little stiffer. Good winter shirt.

Answer:
The material is a very CLOSE weave. I have them in Short Sleeve for warm weather and Long Sleeve for the Cooler Temps. Never a problem. I use a "STEAM BALL" in the dryer and hang them on a hanger under the ceiling fan for 10 minutes, button the top button and into the closet. Looks like they have been ironed and
professionally cleaned. Use the Medium setting for 50 minutes. Do not let your wife use your stem ball. I repeat, "DO NOT LET YOUR WIFE USE YOUR STEAM BALL". Women use the high heat setting and ruin both the Steam Ball and mess up the shirt. Follow my instructions and your Stafford Shirt will always look fresh, pressed and feel good in any environment.

No, the top button is pretty stationary. No elastic on it. That was the Stafford Super Shirt that had the top button with give in it. I don't think they make those anymore.

Answer:
I had hoped for the elastic button, too -- no dice on this one. It just has a fixed-position top button, unfortunately. Fortunately, I'm happy to just leave that top button unbuttoned. I tell people it's a style choice, but it's really more that I just want to be able to breathe.

Answer:
The shirts we bought were not the size "Big & Tall". No matter though because we are happy with what we got. When i tested the top button, I did not find any more "give" than the other shirts. My husband definitely has to have neck size 17 1/2" to button comfortably. When buying these shirts, I would not count on a "give" at the neck, just have to buy a 1/2" larger.
