Rated 5 out of 5 by suitable Suitable; that is, great to wear with a business suit or for casual Friday. White and blue are my favorite colors in this style. March 16, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product is perfect for my work. I use the Stafford Brand Oxford cloth wrinkle free shirts for my embroidery business. Brides love to order these shirts and have them monogrammed to wear the day of their wedding. They can wear the button up shirts and not mess up their hair and makeup. The oxford cloth is a great weight so that it is not too hot or thin so it is not see thru. The value is excellent! June 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent value and quality. I have not had to wear dress shirts in sometime until I found a career that requires them to be worn everyday. Needless to say, I needed some nice looking dress shirts fast at a reasonable budget. I am a fairly large guy and I looked all over trying to find a nice reasonable shirt for big and tall guys. JCP Big and Tall section exceeded my needs for dress shirts and sport coats. JCP has an excellent selection at great reasonable prices. I was able to find my size and bought 5 shirts and 4 sports coats and 3 pair of pants. The quality is excellent and they look really sharp. I am 110% satisfied. December 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fits like a glove I was looking for a fitted oxford shirt since I've lost some weight recently. I simply downsized from another Stafford Oxford Shirt, which I was also quite pleased with. October 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product has great fit and look. I have been in the dry cleaning business and have handled a large variety of shirts. I would always dress with the products that customers wear. I have found that Stafford shirts not only fit and look great, they hold up real well. February 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bridesmaid getting ready shirts I bought these shirts for my bridesmaids to wear while we get ready for my wedding. I also got the engraving, which was small and not easy to read.. but it still worked. The shirts were super cute regardless. September 3, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Some very good qualities. I like the availability of large sizes (especially with neck sizes). Arm sizes were a little long. Overall the style and quality of the shirt was very good. November 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Shirt ... This is a good dress shirt. It fits well and is comfortable to wear. May 1, 2014

Answer:
The tags in my shirts say 60% cotton, 40% polyester. It's what I would call a medium-heavy weight material, perhaps not quite as heavy as was used in years gone by (10 years ago and older, when they still sold using exact sleeve lengths). The material is very durable. On my shirts, the elbows always wear out before anything else, because that's where friction gradually erodes the material. (But something had to give eventually; at least the rest of the shirt still looks great until the elbows thin and develop a hole.) The way to care for these shirts is to wash them on warm/perma-press cycle, then dry them on low/perma-press heat for about 20 minutes (don't wait until a longer drying cycle completes, if there are other clothes in the same dryer) with other fairly damp materials from the wash like towels and t-shirts. This all keeps the shirt from overheating, which is the sort of thing that might cause a wrinkle in material (especially if the shirt is left crumpled for some time while hot). Take them out then, hang them up right away as you take them out, and they will be crisp and flat, and won't need any ironing.

These shirts are so good-looking and easy-care that they're all I ever buy for work-wear, which is how I learned exactly how to wash and dry them to minimize problems.

Answer:
Yes, 60 cotton and 40 polyester and it doesn't wrinkle much. Of course we iron everything.
It's not really heavy as that's what we've been looking for- but it's the heaviest we've found and I've literally brought home hundreds of shirts in our quest to suit this very PICKY person.

The fabric is not heavy. It feels like any other oxford. The blend helps it to wear well and come out of the dryer looking good (if you get it out right away when the dryer stops). :-)

It is not extremely heavy but heavy enough that when you dry it and take it out of the dryer quickly there are no wrinkles. My hustband frequently wears shirts like this is the summer comfortably even with a undershirt.

Answer:
Here's the real truth about the various fitting categories: there's no real way to know, from the information provided on the website. All descriptions you'll see here are ultimately rather vague, providing only general guidelines that may have very little to do with your particular situation.

The real answer is, you have to try them on to see, varying the fit category, the neck size, and the sleeve length all around what you "think" is probably the right thing to buy. That's partly because perhaps 10 years ago, give or take, Penney's stopped selling exact sleeve lengths, and turned from mostly-regular to providing a wide variety of different body fits. At the same time, even the "regular" fit underwent some changes, so it's no longer what it used to be. (The arm diameter is definitely smaller now than it used to be, much to my discomfort -- it's too tight now, and I wish Penney's would go back to the old, original patterns, maybe under a "classic" rubric if they don't want to mess with their current range of fit categories.)

Anyway, every person is different. Once I understood that Penney's had changed all the sizings and I could no longer depend on my old measurements, I bought one of every fit/size around what I thought it ought to be (about 9 shirts, total), and tried them all out. That way, I found what fit me best, and I can order that from now on. I bought the collection on-line, and sent everything back except the one shirt that fit me best. I felt a bit bad about this strategy, since it seemed a bit wasteful, but Penney's got all the other shirts back in still-sellable form, wrapped up all nice as they had come originally. And I buy these shirts in bulk (they're the only work shirts I ever wear), so certainly this strategy is in both my interest and Penney's interest, keeping me as a long-term customer. I would have preferred that the fit categories be more precisely defined, and that exact sleeve lengths still be sold, but when the vendor (Penney's) makes unanticipated sizing changes, we consumers need some way to react sensibly.

The athletic fit gives you more room in the underarm and bicep area. I have also bought the fitted version and it was too tight in the underarm section. I liked how it fit across my chest though. But when they say fitted it is quite snug.

Answer:
The neck and sleeve dimensions will be as stated on the package but the athletic sizes are cut narrower in the waist area. Ask a salesperson to open one of each some time in the store and you will see the difference. The regular cut is definitely wider and will tend to billow unless you are "stockier."

Answer:
Athletic style Oxford Dress Shirts fit snugly against the torso, there is no room for relaxing the body. This style shirt is meant for men, and women (yes, women love to wear Oxford shirts too) who are fit and trim.

Regular fit shirts have inches to spare, and are far more comfortable to wear.

Answer:
The fitted shirt is a little more tailored than the regular fit shirt. However, it's still big around the waist. If you are a bit smaller at the waist, the athletic cut is even more tailored and you don't have so much excess fabric to deal with. I think the fitted shirts have smaller diameter sleeves too. If you have big arms, this cut is too tight. The athletic cut provides a little bigger diameter sleeve. Hope this helps.

Answer:
Most shirts are made with what is called a 4"-6" drop. That's the difference between the chest size and the waist. A person with a 40' chest will generally wear 34"-36" pants. An athletic fit has a larger 'drop'. Like if you had a 40" chest, but only a 32" waist. These are also called 'tapered' fit.

My 19 year old son is in great shape working out 2 times a week!! He is slim so I bought him FITTED & it was too tight in the shoulders & the regular was too baggy--
I replaced it with the athletic- it is MUCH better! ( Even with this he will take it in under the arms a little because he does not have wide upper arms-) IT'S GREAT YOU HAVE ATHLETIC FIT!!

Athletic is intended for someone with a muscular, fit upper body build. It has more room for the shoulders then tapers to provide less room around the middle. Fitted is intended for someone with a more slender build.

Purchase the traditional, old-fashion Stafford shirts. I was very disappointed in the fabric and the look of the "traveler" style.

My husband and I have been wearing the traditional Oxford shirts for decades, and decided on a whim to try out the "traveler" style, there is no comparison. The fabric used in the "traveler" style is no match for the traditional.

Answer:
5316608 is a "pinpoint" oxford; 5316144 is the "regular" oxford. The weave on the pinpoint is much less visible; think of single-thread interlacing in both left/right and up/down directions. In contrast, the weave on the regular essentially uses two side-by-side threads per weave element, meaning the weave is larger and more visible as a texture on the garment.
