Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as "Heavyweight" as before by 0.5 oz JC Penney has cut the quality of these shirts using a half ounce lighter cotton per shirt based on the Large Tall t-shirt size. While that doesn't seem like much, I instantly noticed the difference when I put the t-shirt on. They were visibility thinner and didn't feel as soft or comfortable as the pair I purchased 10 months ago. When I weighed several of the new ones and several older ones these newer ones were 0.5 oz lighter. They also cost me 6.7% more per four pack compared to 10 months ago. I used to loyally purchase 3-4 packs of the large tall Stafford Heavyweight Crewneck T-Shirts every 9-12 months. Had I known they were going to change the shirts I would have placed an order for several years worth of shirts. A couple years ago I tried one pack of a competing brand large tall t-shirt but the other brand was a little thinner and that was not a feature I was willing to compromise on. Unfortunately these just aren't as good and next time I will be shopping around again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavier weight and longer I prefer a heavier weight T-shirt long enough that it doesn't pull out of my pants when I bend over. The Stafford Heavyweight fills the bill. Also, I am 6'1", 200-lbs, and I have always worn size XL. Recently, by accident, I purchased the XXl. At first it seemed awfully large, but after one washing -- even though it did not shrink, that I could tell -- I found I liked it better than the XL. That's why I ordered another four-pack online recently, and I intend to order another pretty soon. I'm getting rid of a whole drawer full of light-weight short-tailed T-shirts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Quality / Perfect Fit I' a reasonably "young" man -- 78 years old and 6' 7" tall -- and have only purchased J.C. Penney's underwear since I was a teenager. Your Stafford heavyweight crewneck big & tall T-shirt fits me perfectly. More importantly, the quality of this T-shirt is unsurpassed. No other T-shirt manufacturer produces a similar product that can come close to matching the quality of your product. In fact, your heavyweight crewneck big & tall T-shirt may be superior to the J.C. Penny T-shirts I purchased in the good old days!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best! My husband will not buy any other t-shirts (undershirts) He has worn these for years and loves them. He buys the large/tall so they don't creep out of his jeans. They are a heavyweight cotton and last forever. He bought new ones only because after many years, his others are just slightly not white white.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Long Time Purchaser - Not Ever Again I have worn these shirts for years. I bought several packages over the holidays and just opened the first one. The new shirts are of SIGNIFICANTLY lower quality and value. I won't buy them again. I won't recommend anyone buy them. The material is so thin they feel flimsy. When compared to my older shirts (washed many times) the new shirts feel like a flimsy paper towel being compared to a real cotton dish towel.. I would not value these shirts at over $1.00 each. CHEAP! LOW QUALITY! I had previously rated at 5 stars. I was very wrong and apologize to anyone I misled. I did not expect Penneys to switch to such a low quality product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product fails Stafford Heavyweight Crewneck T-Shirts This stitching fails to hold up. Holes underneath the arms along the stitching line gives out. The stitching on the neck separates too just like the arms. You get a little hole and you don't notice then after the two washes you have a hole underneath the crew neck two fingers wide. Actually, I have never seen this happen before; it appears they stitch on the neck section,in two separate pieces. They just separate as the stitch gives away. What I am use to is the TownCraft quality and this Stafford 100% Cotten Heavyweight Crewneck T-shirt is not up to the same standards. You'll be disappointed in the t-shirt. I would not recommend it. Not even near the same quality I was use too in t-shirts growing in the 70's and 80's. Cheap workmanship. Be ready to buy new t-shirts in a month or two with this brand. I would like to clarify this too, not every shirt in the 4 packed did this. Out of 2 four packs, three t-shirts all failed the exact same way. You end up with nice shoes shine rags.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great overall I have tried several brands of "tall" sizes, including Lands End, and others, the Stafford's seem to be the ONLY shirts that are actually TALL. I wear a Medium tall (I prefer a tighter fit for wearing underneath), they stay tucked in because they are actually a tall size, unlike every other brand I've tried. I have never had bad luck with these shirts. They have changed them just a tad bit over the years (I've been wearing them since 2004), but the quality hasn't changed. Even when they're "worn out" for me, they are still wearable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dad's only undershirts My dad has worn these shirts for 30+ years and says no others compare. They were discontinued a few years back and I just ordered him his first set of new ones in a number of years and he was so grateful as his were nearly rags! He prefers actual tags to the now-tagless version, but the quality and design is identical to the ones previously made and he's thrilled to be able to buy them again.

What is the fabric on this product besides cotton?

Example: 95% cotton and 5% spandex...ect
Asked by: Benny
Somewhat facetiously....75% Cotton, 25% air. Penney's has dropped the quality of this cotton to such a point that they are just plain flimsy and cheap. I've worn these for years but I will never buy them again. Very overpriced for the quality and value.

What weight is the cotton?

ounces per sq foot
Asked by: Terry
They have dropped the quality so low that these shirts feel flimsy now. Just rated them at 1 star. Previously worn them for years. The old shirts were 5 stars. These new shirts are just plain flimsy and cheap. VERY low quality product.
