by GrandmaMNTN This product is not true to color as seen online
I ordered 4 dress shirts for my son. This one in particular that is French Blue is a denim blue, not bright blue as shown in the picture. I am disappointed with it, not what I expected. I feel others looking for a special color should know what they are getting. I have posted the actual shirt, still in package, that was sent to me by JC Penney

The stretchy top button is genius on these shirts.
I suffer from having an unusual wide neck and slimmer torso so the stretchy top button is perfect. Now all ya need is more fun colors and patterns.

Rated 2 out of 5 by JCPenPal Very Disappointed at Changes
I too have been buying Stafford dress shirts for a number of years. Last month I bought one of the new houndstooth pattern dress shirts, same size and sleeve length I always get. The cut of the shirt was completely different. The sleeves were two tight in the forearm areas and the biceps. I could hardly move and when I showed my wife how tight it was, the back ripped. I thought maybe I just bought a mislabeled shirt so I went back, got four different kinds and longer sleeve length-same problem. Shirts are uncomfortable now. Makes my arms feel huge when they aren't. I'm taking very good care of my old ones until I can find a suitable replacement or until Penny's fixes this. If this is a cost cutting measure to use less cloth, I'd rather pay $2.00 more per shirt and go back to the old cut. Now my sleeves wrinkle at the bend and look sloppy. You had a great product; please go back to it. Thanks

Rated 1 out of 5 by SadJCPCustomer WHY WOULD YOU CHANGE THE CUT!!!!
I wear dress shirts everyday. I've been buying JCPenney Stafford shirts, about 10-15 a year, THE EXACT SIZE, for the last 15 years. So last week I went an picked up another 9 shirts, again the EXACT SAME SIZE I've been wearing for 15 years. The cut is completely different. The sleeves are too narrow and the armpit is cut toonarrow. While this fine when my arms are down to my sides, I cannot raise them. When I do, the sleeves run right up my arm. Driving is now uncomfortable. If I reach above my head the shirt becomes untucked. I had to take them all back. I tried on a shirt with longer sleeves but that didn't work because it doesn't look right when my arms are down because of all the extra fabric. I'm sad to say I'll never buy another JCPenney shirt until the correct this major issue. Take a lesson from "NEW COKE" and "CLASSIC COKE" way back when. Why fool with a good thing?

5 out of 5 Meets Expectations
5 out of 5 "The Stafford Performance line has an adjustable neck. The top button is actually sewn onto a tab that has elastic. This allows the collar to give, especially when you are trying to button it. You literally can pull the button tab out as you are buttoning the top button!
Also-Since my husband is very broad shouldered, the athletic cut was a perfect fit. It tapers in very nicely so that he does not have the full, bunched-up tail of the shirt. We like this cut and style with the adjustable collar so much that we have bought Stafford Performance shirt in every color. It is the only kind of dress shirt he wears now. Remember, Stafford has several styles. Only the Stafford "Performance"
has the adjustable collar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by busboy60 Good quality shirt for everyday & dress
I searched everywhere for a good quality shirt for my husband that would look great & professional for his everyday job, yet take the punishment expected of a work shirt. These Stafford shirts are the perfect solution! They look dressy, but can stand up to the daily abuse of his job. My husband drives a tour bus to New York City, which requires him to look polished & professional, while performing myriad tasks - loading & unloading baggage, operating handicap equipment, checking brakes, tires, engines, etc. He comes home covered in grime, but leaves home the next day, crisp & fresh as a daisy in his laundered, easy-care Stafford shirt. And, the free monogram? Well, that just sets him a notch above the rest of the drivers! Thanks ever so much.

Rated 1 out of 5 by dressyman Beware: New Shirts Different Cut/Fit
These Stafford shirts used to be my go to shirt. Reasonably priced, stylish, fit well, and were very easy to keep looking nice.
I probably have had over two dozen of these shirts over the years, as I try to trade them out every so often to keep them looking fresh. The last set of Stafford fitted shirts I bought, the exact size and cut as all my previous shirts, were way too tight in the arms, upper chest, and upper back. I could barely lift my arms up the fabric was so tight. The chest and back felt like they were about to rip open with any movement.
The fabric also is quite thin and see through. I can see the elbows wearing through quite fast.
So, make sure you try on these shirts before purchasing.
