Rated 1 out of 5 by from "Original" 501s NOT Original Anymore I have been wearing Levis 501 Original Button Fly jeans for almost 40 years...literally! In the last 3 years I have ordered a handful of Levis Original 501. And when they didn't fit like the old Originals I went to various stores and tried on the 501s. And none of them fit like the old Originals. Bottom line...Levis Original 501s are NOT Original anymore! The legs are now tapered. They are tight in the thigh and they don't fit over my boots. And no, its not because I have gotten fat. The rise is different as well. Where I used to be able to sit comfortably in my drivers seat with my wallet in my hip pocket, in the most recent pairs I feel like I'm sitting on a brick. The wallet is not in the same place with the new Originals as it was in the old originals. And I have my last pair of original Original 501s to prove they don't fit like the new Original 501s.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hems in the Original 501 Shrink to Fit Jean I am 60 years old and have been wearing Levi 501 Shrink too Fit since I was 13 years old. Yes, I like Levis. However, I have been very, very disappointed with the hems in them any more to the point I am looking for a complete different brand of jean to buy after all these years. The hems anymore instead of being roughly 3/8" to 1/2" are maybe if lucky an 1/8" therefore the hems of the jeans continue to roll up and look absolutely terrible. Very cheaply made anymore and it's very disappointing, shame on you Levi Strauss !!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wear out too fast I have been buying 501 jeans for 20 + years without issue. In the past 2-3 years I found that the 501 jeans wear out too fast in the inseam (6 months or less) and the belt loops detach within 4-6 months. I just moved on to docker and lucky brand jeans.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made... I hover between 34 and 35, so I chose a 36" waist. Fits well, and not too snug. I like a little bit of room around the waist. The straight leg is just right, but I choose to turn up my cuffs. My biggest disappointment was that these 501's were made in Egypt and imported. To be fair, there are no construction deficiencies that I've noticed, but I was hoping that these jeans would be Made in the USA as advertised. All in all, a good pair of Levi's 501's in Dark Stonewash, which I will wear for a long time. I plan to dryclean only and not subject them to the washer/dryer routine. I believe that's the best way to preserve them. In a pinch, cold water hand wash and air dry is the way to go. Dear Levi's people: If you say Made in the USA, I tend to believe you. Please keep your promises. Nothing wrong with Imported, the quality could be arbitrary, and I prefer my Levi's to be made here. Thank you for reading my review.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible quality and workmanship. After wearing 501 shrink to fit Levi's for 40 years, I'm done. The quality is horrible. Inconsistent sizing, poor workmanship-is there any quality control? The 3 pairs I bought a few months ago are a joke-after washing they look like an accordion, with bleached out wrinkles. The inside seams are only single stiched! They are unwearable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not true to size I have ordered 31 inch waist 501 jeans for over 40 years. Levis decided to make the labeled 31 inch waist actually 33 inches. The 501 jeans are way oversized on me when I order my actual waist size. I would send them back if it wasn't so much trouble.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Come on Levi's :( My husband has worn 501's for over 50 years. Just bought him several new pairs. The hem is dreadful! Smaller/shorter hem, rolls up and won't lay flat. Come on Levi's, don't give up a ½ to an inch of fabric to cut cost!! Very disappointed!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best there is I've been wearing 501's for longer than I can remember(I got my first pair in 1981)and they're the only jeans I wear--there is not a better pair of jeans on the planet. Until I'm too old to manipulate the buttons I'll keep wearing them!

how much do these pants shrink?

If I order 30x32, What do these shrink to?
Asked by: larry
In my experience these will shrink about 1/4" in the waist and 1/4" to 1/2" in length. I wash them on warm and dry them on hot.

Where this 501 Levi's style was made? Was it in Mexico or USA? I want to know in order to proceed with the purchasing. Thanks

Asked by: Bigo
All mine that were ordered this past time were made in Mexico. With over 8 different washes/finishes, it might prove useful to see if these came from a different locale. Have been wearing 501 for 38+ years and it has been over 20 years since I remember made in USA; but again, some of the wearing and washes (or not) might still be made here. One added note. The straight blue jean (unwashed) has always had a shrink of almost two inches in the waist if you use a dryer. This will take several dryer cycles to get there. They used to have a disclaimer years back to allow 3% shrinkage. That is one in every 33"; that is actually x2 with heated drying.
