Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product has Changed I've worn Gold Toe Crew Socks from J. C. Penney for many years, buying them on a regular basis and stocking up during sales. I've noticed the product has changed over the last year or so. New stock is lighter in weight and I suspect less robust in construction. The difference is quite obvious. Gold Toe still offers a quality product, and I consider them to be a good value, especially when bought on sale, but they are not what hey were.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bottom half good, top half unusable For twenty years I have relied on the excellent quality and fit of Gold Toe Cotton Fluffies and wore nothing else. Now the product is called Cotton Crews and while the bottoms are still excellent, the tops are so tight they leave deep ridges in my ankles. My only relief is to discard the tops and sew the bottoms onto the the salvaged tops of my old Fluffies, which are still good after years of use. The end result looks odd but makes for a good sock as long as the two halves hold together. I don't know why the elastic is now made so tight that it hurts your ankle. I'd rather have socks that fall down!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product detail information is inaccurate! My husband has worn gold toe cotton crew socks for years and has always been very happy with them. The website says the socks are cotton, stretch nylon with a touch of spandex but the socks that arrived by UPS were 42% polyester, 41% cotton, nylon and spandex. We choose not to wear plastic on our bodies so I had to call customer service and return the socks. Polyester/plastic becomes more and more difficult to avoid as time goes on. It's so disappointing. Also forcing me to rate an unsatisfactory product that wasn't kept seems pointless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the features of these high cotton content socks! I've been buying 6 pairs of these socks at a time for 15+ years, plus more of the non-athletic versions. They all tend to last me about 3-5 years so my inventory sort of rolls as I phase in new pairs whenever I discover thinning old pairs. The white ones will yellow after a year or so. I use either white (or the non-athletic black or brown version) every day, all year 'round. Favorite features: 1. High COTTON content (79%) makes them breathe, stay dry and keep my feet cool in summer and warm & dry in winter. Releases perspiration so my feet don't get that sticky feeling (or stinking smell!). I also wear breathable shoes. 2. The small amount of plastic, man-made material (11% POLYESTER, 9% NYLON, 1%: SPANDEX) gives them just the right amount of elastic so they don't fall down even during fitness training and running and always return to shape when I take them off or wash them. Even when they are a couple of years old! 3. The significant COTTON content makes just the right amount elastic. Other socks I've tried, made of too much plastic, are too tight around my lower calf and will make bluish dents around my legs where they are tight, feeling uncomfortable after a few hours. But I can wear these for 20+ hours and not even notice they're on! No hurting, deformed calves at the end of the day! I appreciate these socks so much I just had to write a review!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only the black ones are mostly cotton The two gray shades are two thirds synthetic so I will not be wearing them. Do people really put polyester on their feet? Donating them to charity.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The quality has been changed. I used to purchase "Gold Toe" socks exclusively because of their quality. They always were well made with the finest materials. This is no longer true. Obviously the material has changed. They are no longer strechable or softly cushioned. I can purchase the same quality socks in a hardware store. What a disappointment. I will never again purchase Gold Toe products. I did not mind paying more for the socks because of their superior quality. That is no longer the case. I take extra large sizes and they no longer fit because they no longer stretch. Another company that apparently has decided to cheapen the product yet keep the same price. Thumbs Down.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I do not like the sizing of socks! I would like to know why we have to buy socks in sizes from one size to another. Why not just size 7, 8 etc? I have guys that do NOT like socks that their size is in the middle and they have "left over" that bundles on their toes. Who came up with this sizing? I hate this. Even women have this problem. I am a woman and I wear a size 7 1/2 shoe and have to buy socks that go from one size to another only to have a sock that is uncomfortable!!!!! Please go back to regular sizes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Socks I wear these socks every day for work and casual. I've been wearing them now for around 12 years. I even wear them around the house with my pajamas. They take very good care of my feet and that's important to me because I am diabetic. They always wash up great and the elastic is tough. They wear very evenly and I couldn't be more pleased. I'm a big man at 265 and 6'4" with a size 14 shoe I am hard on anything I wear and these socks can take it.
