Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed I have purchase these t shirts many times in the past for my husband -- he loves them. This time, however, the quality is severely lacking. After the first wash, 2 of the 4 shirts received have lost stitching in the collar where it attaches to the shirt! I've had to repair these myself. Not good. Also, the material is not as thick as before. Hope JCP will address this issue and bring the quality back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great shirts After being very happy with JCP 50/50 crew neck shirts purchased some months ago, I decided to give the heavy weight crew neck shirts a try. I got home, put one on and the tightness of the neckband totally surprised me.It seemed ridiculously tight. I almost pulled it off to return it but thought,oh leave it on for a while.A lot of people on the JCP review seem to love them. So I put my shirt on over it. The white neckband was prominent and feeling the collar encircling my neck I decided to wear it long enough to see if I could get used to it. I got used to the snugness, and decided the white neck band looks good too. I always have liked wearing a crew neck undershirt and it's kind of my style. The shirts look clean, never sag and the overall close fit in the torso with the heavy fabric absorbs perspiration and keeps me cool under whatever shirt I put on over it. I also wear the 50/50 crew neck shirts as an alternate if the neckband on the heavyweight looks too prominent under some shirts. They look and feel really nice too and don't look so serious.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality declining I have bought these t-shirts (Stafford, Heavyweight) for 20 years, and I agree with several of the other reviewers that the quality of this product has declined to the point that I will not purchase again. Several others have commented that the t-shirts are not has thick as they once were. That may be true, but they are still thicker than most t-shirts out there. My disappointment is in the quality of the collar. After one wear, the collar on 2 of the 8 t-shirts I purchased stretched out to the point they looked goofy. I didn't abuse these shirts in any way... I put them on and took them off one time. I am willing to pay more for a high quality t-shirt, but I have been happy with these in the past. However, I will no longer buy these shirts and would be grateful for any recommendations on t-shirts out there that reassemble what these t-shirts once were. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Quality! Never Buy Any Brand! I had been buying "Stafford® Performance T-Shirt's" for myself for over 2 years now. They are far superior in comfort and never lose their shape or discolor. I have been trying to convert my husband from Hanes but he will not budge. I end up replacing his t-shirts every 3-4 months due to losing shape, yellowing, armpit stains. While this does make laundry easier to separate, it just wastes so much money. I agree that Stafford® Performance T-Shirt's may cost a lit bit more than the bargain brands found at supermarkets or low end department stores, but think about quality rather than cost. When you purchase a set of Stafford T-Shirt's these will last you 2, 3, 4 years or longer in many cases. They will never lose shape, and with proper care they will not discolor. When you purchase a discount brand that you grew up on you should expect to keep replacing them every 3-4 months. Those brands will stretch out, stain easily, turn yellowish, and don't forget the sweat stains. BONUS: The discount brands do make great cleaning rags.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great undershirt I bought some of these in the store with my husband and then I ordered more online. I bought the exact same product and item number, but the shirts I got online were actually of better quality than the shirts I got in the store. They are thicker and the collar is larger than the other shirts. I am not quite sure why they are different or what, but the shirts I ordered online are much nicer and I would recommend them. My husband wears these under his work shirts and he is very happy with them. They are much thicker than the other shirts we used to buy by Hanes or Fruit of the Loom. They hold up much better. By now, those other cheaper brands would have holes in the armpits. But these, I think these are a keeper! And I got them on sale and with a coupon and spend probably 2 or 3 more dollars more per shirt than the cheaper brands. It is well worth it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The Quality Of this Product Is Terrible This New Line of T Shirt Is no where near the Quality it once was when available in the 3 pack. The thickness of the cotton is only about one third of what it once was some months ago. The sleeve length was cut shorter to save even more money. When washed they shrunk and the fit is terrible! These shirts were once the best on the market. How sad it is to see that greed has once again reared it's ugly head! I will not recommend these to anybody. Bring back the earlier T shirts they were the best but no longer available.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the same shirt!! These are not the same as the stafford performance t-shirt. Those were the only shirts my husband would ever buy and now they are gone. I will be returning the ones I just received and will be looking to replace JC Penney as our t-shirt place. Very unhappy!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lighter weight than expected I used to buy heavyweight shirts and they were heavyweight. These now are not the quality that Penneys used to have. Quality is going downhill. Disappointed.

Answer:
These feel like about 5.5 or 6 oz. Definitely not 7 oz. If heavy duty work quality t-whirts (i.e. 6.5 - 7 oz.) are available in Stafford brand, I have not seen them.

Answer:
I do not know the exact weight, but these ones labeled 'heavyweight' are the ones I like-- they are not flimsy and are great for everything from sleeping to everyday wear under a shirt, or even by themselves. These are the ones that look and feel like a shirt, not just an undershirt.

Answer:
After double-checking, the package doesn't state specifically how many threads per square inch the weave is but, you'll be hard-pressed to find a heavier t-shirt in todays market. These shirts are soft and keep their shape, even after years of laundering.

Answer:
I don't know what the weight of the material is per square yard. The fabric is definitely thicker. I would say it is at least double the thickness of the regular white t-shirts that you buy now. When held up to a light, you can not easily see through the material, where a normal t-shirt you can see the bulb through the material. The Stafford t-shirts fit my husband true to size. The neck hole is a bit smaller than other brands but my husband likes it to fit smaller than too loose. I would definitely buy it again.

Answer:
I have washed the shirt about 20 times in hot water , hottest setting in dryer. Present measurements from front of neck to hem: 25 1/2" and from back of neck to hem 28 1/2". If you want something longer, you may be able to buy this same shirt in a Medium Tall. I used to buy them in the Tall but I no longer need that extra length.
