New Version does NOT match Prior Versions
I purchased multiple place settings of Mikasa French Countryside in the early 1990's. Several pieces have gone missing through the years, so I thought I'd order some replacements from the manufacturer. Big surprise! These do not even remotely match. The size is huge--the current salad fork is bigger than the older dinner fork! The "ball" design in the handle of the older version was actually ball shaped--the new version is just a horizontal stamp. Mikasa should call this French Countryside II or something to avoid confusion.

Great product !!!
I am very happy with this flatware set for 4, now, i wish i had gotten it for 8 and called it my 'good' set. It is that pretty.
Love the pattern and how it feels in my hand. Not too big, not too heavy, substantial yet very comfortable when used.
Quality is great, definitely 18/10 stainless steel. Has beautiful shine and this is not something that will bend after few uses.
I am truly very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this product.
Beware when shopping though - same pattern exists made of inferior material and is being sold by another vendor for much less. I read some very disappointing reviews.

Very sturdy and luxurious flatware!
I bought the serving set in this pattern years ago and have searched and searched for the matching flatware in the stores. Mikassa.com came to my rescue by offering the 20-piece sets without matching serving set which I didn't need! I have extremely sensitive hands that make it painful to hold flatware with sharp edges and I knew this set was rounded and smooth to the touch. It is everything I dreamt of and more. The shine is outstanding, the strength and durability already proven by the existing serving set and the simple design goes with anything.

The new pieces have changed sizes.
I bought my first service for 12, Mikassa French Countryside flatware, about 15 years ago. I love it every day I use it. Now, some pieces have gone missing and my family size has increased, so I bought two more 20 piece sets. To my surprise, the size and shape of each piece has changed, ever so slightly. Still, I notice the shorter handles and larger area that goes into the mouth. Interesting, I now have four different size forks, and two different sizes of each of the other pieces. I am still very pleased with the pattern.

doesn't match pieces bought in 2001
While the new pattern is not strikingly different, it is easily identifiable as not being the same as the older, made-in-Korea set I bought in 2001.
