Rated 4 out of 5 by from Was happy with this product for the price! We put this shade in our daughter's room in hopes they would sleep in longer if it wasn't so bright. It definitely helps keep it darker in the mornings, but since their window is on the East side of the house, it isn't completely dark in there. My husband and I have a custom-made block-out blind in our room and that leaves our room almost completely black when shut. This one we put in our daughter's room does a good job, but not quite as well as the one we have in our room (but we had that one custom-made for more than twice the price), so for what we paid - I think we got a good product! But, just a word of advice to others - the amount of light it lets in is completely dependent on how it fits the window - as light can peep around the edges of the shade if the fit isn't tight enough. We have ours mounted as an inside mount and it is pretty tight to the edges of the wall around it, which helps keep the room darker.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems well made, but I was not impressed with the color. The curtain seemed well made and appeared to block out the light well, but when I ordered the "Ivory" I was expecting an off-white, not 30 year old smoker yellow. The color to me really looked like it's been hanging collecting nicotine for the last 30 years. I wish more people had taken pictures to show the colors of each product, because, I would not have ordered these if I had seen what the color actually looked like. I am submitting my own pictures taken tonight to show you what the color Ivory actually looks like, it is not an off-white. These are being returned this weekend. The shade itself seemed nice and, I did reorder white ones tonight. I really hope white is what I actually get. I didn't want white, but the other colors are too dark for my daughters room. I wish they offered more neutral colors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Black-Out as Stated This is a super nice shade. Heavy and high quality with metal springs in the headrail; yet, I have to return it because it is NOT a BLACKOUT shade. I intended to install it as an inside mount but not only does light come through the sides (and mine was a great tight fit) but also the fabric itself does let some light in. Again, this is a heavy duty, beautiful quality shade but it is only "light blocking" NOT a black out shade. If you are ok with "light blocking" then I recommend this shade but if you must have a "blackout" shade, look for something else. Decorator Tip: cellular shades (and wooden blinds) look funny when installed with outside mounts. They stick way out and would allow a lot more light in from the sides so I do not recommend installing these as an outside mount. If you must have an outside mount look at roman shades or roller blinds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for!!! Up until I purchased these blinds I was constantly buying cheap mini blinds only to have to replace them every year or two. Finally, I decided I was going to take the plunge and invest in a quality product. I’m so glad I did! Let me start off by saying, you really do get what you pay for! I purchased these blinds in “Dove Gray” and the color was JUST how I imagined, so it matched perfectly. My windows where not deep enough to inset the blinds, so they had to be mounted outside. My husband was amazed at how easily the installation process was, he said he loved how they just “snapped” in once you got the brackets up. I should also mentioned they measured true to size. The only bit of sunlight that gets threw these blinds is around the edges and that is only because we could not flush mount them. They truly block light great! This was my first experience with cellular blinds, so I wasn’t sure how easily they would go up and down, but they are so nice! It takes NO effort to lift them up or pull them down and they transition so smoothly! We love that there are no ugly cords to try to hide, we even plan on buying more for our hallway & our baby’s nursery. To top it all off shipping was fast as could be. I would defiantly recommend this product to a friend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from quality/cost with return guarantee- can't be beat! The quality of these blinds is first rate. They will definately help with insulating our windows and are room darkening. We needed the room darkening because part of our windows face the west and in the afternoon/evening we sometimes get quite a glare on the tv. The color of the shades is very similar to online. We are returning our first set to get the darker brown color. That is one of the best things about ordering thru JCPenney's is their return policy. Having 90 days to determine if a product is going to work or not and then being able to return with no hassle is awesome! I always check with them first when I need to buy window coverings. Quality/cost with return guarantee can't be beat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great shades if they shade I bought 5 of these shades in 3 different lengths and Tussah color. One of the shades was not as light blocking as the others. It is noticeably lighter than the other. I returned it 3 three times now and I keep getting a shades that lets in more light. It's not room darkening as the others. It is very obvious. I can see the reflection in my TV and the room looks ridiculous. I have it installed in the right window in the pictures. I swapped it to the left window and the problem followed the shade. I either keep returning the shade until I get one that matches the darkness of the others, or return the darker ones. The store employee knows me now. I need to take this up the chain of command.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleased with our cordless blackout shades. We had previously purchased a different brand of cordless shades at another store and found them to be aesthetically appealing but they did little to block out the light. We decided to try out these Mirage ones instead and they are working out great! They do a great job blocking out sunlight which was important to us as we installed them in a room that gets a lot of sun exposure and that will soon be a nursery. I love that they are cordless as well, as it's a safer option for children's rooms. They install easily and have a nice crisp look. Only complaint is that I wish they were offered in more colors!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great block out shade We had purchased 3 roll down blackout shades from JCP over a year ago because they were cheaper and similar ones had worked for me in the past. Well in our new home the windows are much wider (48") and the 3 roller shades we purchased all bowed in the middle and were not usable (we could not roll them up or down). So I decided to try one of these Cordless Cellular Blackout Shades. It seems much more durable and it attaches to the top of the window (not the sides like the roll shade) and it attached in 3 places (one on each side and one in the middle) so it seems like this will be a much better shade for the long haul. A bit expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for. We have only had it installed for a week, so I really can't speak for the durability, but it goes up and down very smoothly and blocks out the sun very well. We have it in my 2 year olds room and he still naps, so we needed a good blackout shade. We certainly hope this one holds up.

Does the side with the metalic coating face inside or out. I ordered white shades so both sides are white (ish)

Asked by: Ruth
The metallic coating faces inside. I love the blinds. Good quality, good price.

Locking Arm Attachment

After attaching the head rail & pushing the locking arm inward is the lip of the locking arm supposed to be exposed on the exterior side of the head rail?
Asked by: Lablady
Yes, it will show but not that much. Makes it much easier to lock/unlock shade in the brackets.

my widow is 49" long and 461/2 wide. The only length I can get is 64", will that be too long for the 49" length window for an outside mount?

my widow is 49" long and 461/2 wide. The only length I can get is 64", will that be too long for the 49" length window for an outside mount?
Asked by: Molly
It should be fine. You'll just have a small area where the shad is folded up. If you think about it, the 64 inch length is folded up into only a couple of inches when closed. The remainder that you will have from 49 to 64 is probably only a half in Maybe? So I would say it is not too long and should be fine.

What is the difference between the Mirage Blackout Cordless Cellular Shade and the regular Blackout Cordless Cellular Shade?

Asked by: MirageQuestion
The mounting hardware is better with the Mirage, much faster installation. I think they also come with a pull down handle, don't think the others do. Both do as they claim as far as Blackout.
