Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic Penny Loafer I love these loafers. I wore them all through school when I was a kid. If you can get the size right, they are like wearing slippers. I normally wear a 9 M but I bought a 9.5 W in these because I like to wear a sock/ped with my shoes. I think it's gross to go barefoot in them. I had to try on a few sizes before I got it just right but, when I slipped my foot into the right sized loafer, it was heavenly. The strangest thing is, they sent me 2 pair of 9.5 W by mistake and, while one fit perfect, the other pair was too tight. Figure that one out! I bought the black and loved them so much I ordered the Mecca Burgundy. I hope they fit as good as the black ones do! It's a shame they don't have these in the stores. You can only get them online so, I had to order 5 pair and then return the ones that didn't fit properly. Thankfully, the store accepts the returns so I didn't have to pay to mail them back. It's a gorgeous loafer. Classic. Timeless. Will last forever and, the best part is they are LEATHER, not the synthetic stuff you see in all the stores these days. They are worth full price but, I'm glad I got a great deal with the sales. Don't hesitate to buy them. You'll love them!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Shoe But Sizing Might Need Adjusting I LOVE Eastland shoes! I had a pair of loafers years ago which I wore for many years - very long lasting product. When I needed to replace that loafer, I ordered this one. I ordered 2 pair - one black and one navy. After reading the previous reviews, I wasn't sure what size to order - I normally order a 7M in a loafer. I ordered the black pair in a 7N and ordered the navy pair in a 7M. Upon receipt, the navy pair did not appear navy - it was more the color of a bluish gray. Also, the navy pair was slightly wide at the heel and the top as I took a step. I returned this pair. I did keep the black pair. Felt great in length and at the heel. It is slightly snug around the toe area, but I kept them assuming that as the leather "broke in" it will loosen a bit. Even being slight snug, it isn't painful, just slightly uncomfortable after wearing them most of the day at work. Even though I kept the product, I don't feel that the product is the same quality as the ones I had for so many years and will most likely not last as long as the previous ones I had. The leather of these are slight more shiny than the leather of my previous ones and appear to have more glue and less actual stitching than the previous ones.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Feels like they are made out of cardboard. I did a quick try on when i picked them up at the store. They fit, so I brought them home. When I put them and walked in them, I was disappointed. I truly felt like I was walking in cardboard shoes. I checked the box and it said the tops/upper were leather or leather like. I don't know what the rest of it was, but they felt cheap, I don't think they would wear. I liked the style and color, but not enough to waste my money to hurt my feet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Even the narrow was too wide Shoes look great. Nice shoe for the price. I ordered 8.5 narrow, which is what I wear. The shoes were a tiny bit long and didn't fit like a narrow - too wide. Also, there was a lot of slippage in the heel area. I would usually use inserts in a case like this, but they were just too big so I returned them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made shoe My only complaint with this loafer is that the insole does not go completely to the end of the toe area. It stops about half-way. I find the toe area to be uncomfortable. I removed the heel pad and replaced it with a complete coverage insole. An easy fix, but to me, it should have come with such coverage.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap looking I've been buying Eastland shoes for years and was really looking forward to getting these. What a disappointment! As another reviewer said, they really do look like pleather...very cheap looking, with a slick plastic feel to them. I wear a size 7 which never varies, but there was a lot of heel slippage with this shoe and there is no cushioning at all...felt sort of like wearing a hard, flat flip flop. Sadly I will be returning these even though I wanted so badly to love them. Will have to keep searching for a great leather penny loafer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from KILLS MY FEET I PURCHASED THESE SHOES ON MY PENNYS CHARGE CARD AND WORE THEM ONE TIME. THEY HURT MY FEET SO BAD I WILL NEVER WEAR THEM AGAIN BUT NOW I GUESS I HAVE TO KEEP THEM AND PAY FOR THEM BECAUSE I WORE THEM. THEY FIT, THEY JUST HURT.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from comfortable, stylish, classic loafer style shoe I have found these shoes to be comfortable and stylish. I will not have to break them in. It would be nice if the lining of the shoe was carried all the way to the toe for added comfort. Because the shoes are not carried in the store to be tried on, it took a while to get the right fit. I had to order a half size smaller than i normally wear.

Answer:
No, you can't remove them. They're glued to the bottom of the shoe.
