Rated 5 out of 5 by from effective yet quieter than most garbage diposals Hook up is more difficult than anticipated. It requires both electrical and plumbing. I don't know why it is designed for a dish washer to feed into the garbage disposal as well (since the dishwasher didn't need a disposal prior to this), and this was initially an issue because the force of water coming from the dish washer caused it's outlet connection to separate and leak. So that part of the system need to be secured for which the instructions did not address. Our professional installer took care of everything, and the installation cost a lot more than the disposal purchase price. But it works well now and we are happy with it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for condo kitchen sink I had this professionally installed; necessary for multi-unit condo building. I expect this will last many years with prudent use and care. My electrician recommended GE. Both my fridge and cook stove are years-long-in-reliable-use GE appliances!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quieter than most disposals. The disposal had been installed in a new home that we purchased a few months ago. We've found it to be very functional, as well as quieter than other disposals we've owned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great "Newer Model" Disposer My old GE disposer broke a "grinder tooth" for lack of a better word. I looked it up on the GE Parts and Accessories Store and that particular model number didn't exist anymore. Fortunately, the website recommended Model GFC525V as its replacement. I ordered it with next day shipping which was dirt cheap and it arrived the next day! It was fairly easy to install #about an hour or so# and the directions were easy to understand. It has been working for a little over a month now without any issues. It's also quieter than the older model which was a nice surprise. I would recommend this product to anyone that is or will be needing to replace their old GE disposer with this one as long as this disposer is the correct model that you would need. There are many types of GE disposers. Some require being hard wired and some already come with the electrical plug installed so be careful to match the one that needs replacing with the model that GE suggests.
