Rated 5 out of 5 by from Back to the way it should be! So far so good! I recently purchased this model after my fancy shmancy HE washer went haywire on me. I was so happy to find this model. It is not HE (which is getting more difficult to find) and it has the center agitator that I decided I must have again. The new fancy HE models have too many things that can go wrong, and like many others have found, clothes flopping around in the bottom of a tub in 2 inches of water just do not get clean. I almost cried when I lifted the lid and it was full of water, I was so happy. As for noise, I don't find that it's overly noisy. My laundry room is in the garage right by the living room. I couldn't hear it unless I open the door, so it is not loud enough to disturb us. If you are looking for affordable, easy to use, back to the way it was before you tried the over the top and over priced models, I highly recommend this model. GE is a trusted name and I think I made a great decision when I purchased this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST WASHER YET! This GE washer is the best one I've found yet. I've only had it about two weeks and done about 7 loads, but I'm in love! I can finally put enough water in the tub to clean my clothes. And there is no residue left on the finished laundry! So amazing. And the price was amazing as well! I've tried two other washers over the last 6 1/2 years and have been disappointed in both of them. The automatic water fill feature is not for me. I was looking for my mother's washer and I believe I've found it! This washer is just a simple washer with no extra bells and whistles. I get to tell it how much water I want in each load. It is not a HE washer just energy efficient. It has a very large tub suitable for large families. It does not dance or sing or talk to me. It does my laundry and spins them super dry; therefore, cutting dryer time. If you are looking for a washing machine and not a computer, you will want to check this one out! I couldn't ask for more, this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks GE. Keep up the good work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Washing Machine Just had my GE washer delivered today and did a couple loads to try it out. I switched from having a major brand HE non agitator washer. I tried it for 3 years and really thought my clothes were't getting clean. The first load I did with my new GE was a load of white towels, one had a chocolate stain I had washed 3 times in my old washer, pre treating stain, adding bleach and name brand detergent. After one wash in the new GE in whites normal cycle with hot water, detergent and bleach and the towels came out white as snow. I truly believe that because the clothes are agitated while washing they become cleaner. And if it does use a little more water than the HE models it will certainly be saved in electric used to wash them. As far as some reviewers and the noise issue, although the machine is not whisper quit, the noise it makes during a wash cycle is not annoying. It spins the clothes very dry and dry time is shorter. I recommend this machine highly, even after only using it twice. I am hopeful that it will provide excellent service to me for several years.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from GE needs to go back to the drawing board... Bought this particular model on Thursday (27 Apr) and it was delivered this morning (29 Apr). We installed it when he came home from work this afternoon. Having read the reviews, we made sure it was level and all packing material was removed, and I read the instructions so I could do a load of towels. I just went out to check if it was done. It had walked a foot away from the wall!!! The pictures show why - the machine bunched and literally twisted the towels to one side during the spin cycle. There's absolutely NO reason for this to be happening except a DESIGN FLAW!!! This machine is going back ASAP. No amount of troubleshooting, service calls, leveling or "proper loading" of this machine will fix this problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from They don't make 'em like they used to. I should start by saying this machine replaced another GE washer originally purchased in 2001. The difference is like night and day. This machine is a High Efficiency (HE) washer, even though the HE logo is not on the front of the machine. Deceptive because all the other GE models I saw had the logo, and I was looking to avoid one of these HE machines. With my old washer, I was used to a full tub of water and a good strong wash. The entire cycle from first fill to final spin took less than 15 minutes. These HE machines have very long wash cycles, and use very little water. The agitator moves very slowly, and the shortest wash cycle is easily 45 minutes. I have to laugh...high efficiency using less water...but it runs the electricity about 4X as long! Also, the old machines gave the option of gentle or regular agitation + slow or fast spin combinations. This new one is all one speed. The final spins here are turbo fast speed, and run seemingly forever. The machine vibrates so violently I half expect to find it sitting in the next room when it's done! And so far that turbo spin has ripped one shirt and one towel on me. Ostensibly this is to spin out as much moisture as possible to allow for shorter dryer times. But, again, I have to ask: how efficient is shorter dryer time if the turbo washer spin is gonna shred the clothing?! No - I'm not happy with this new machine **as compared to the 2001 model**. I won't have to worry for long though - there's NO WAY this will last 16 years like the old one did. It's all tin, plastic, and planned obsolescence. The sad part is that this is the current standard of major appliances & first time washer buyers won't ever know what these machines USED TO be.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Problems with Spin Cycle Clothes are getting clean, but the washer keeps spinning off center and making a whole lot of racket. We are afraid that the washer will not have a long life if this continues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Pleased! I have been using this washer for over a month now, and I am very happy with it. I was very leary of replacing my old machine after hearing so many people tell me how much they missed their old washers after purchasing the newer HE models. This model allows the user to control the water level and does not lock unless in the spin cycle so you can still add clothes after starting a load. The capacity is great- I can easily wash a king sized comforter. My only concern is if there are problems with the electronics after the warranty expires. I would have liked to purchase an extended warranty, but this was an unexpected purchase, and my budget could not accommodate the additional cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good Took me two machines to get one that worked as it should. First one would not quit filling with water and the side had a big dent. Second one also has a dent but in the rear, out of site. I don't care as long as it works. Have washed six loads in it so far and like how it operates. I want the tub to fill with water and wash my clothes. Had an HE unit and will never have another if it can be helped. This GE is simple to operate, doesn't walk when spinning, and my clothes come out smelling clean for the first time in ages. I like it ! He just needs to take more care when boxing the units up. American made, American pride?

Washer bouncing when in rinse going to spin cycle!

I purchased a GE washer from you last month.I love the washer but whenever it goes into the rinse cycle it bounces about before going into the spin cycle. The loads are not big and they are placed evenly when starting. What is causing this?
Asked by: mike
It sounds like the feet need to be adjusted so the washer is stable; perhaps the floor is not level.
