Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing I bought this model to replace my GE JEM31BF undercabinet microwave oven that no longer heated. This is the only model of the same power that could be mounted the same way under the cabinet. So basically I had to buy this model to replace my old one. So here are the disappointing differences: 1. Screw holes were not in the same place for mounting 2. Size is a bit taller so that items I stored on the counter under the old microwave will no longer clear the new microwave 3. Even though the new microwave is supposedly larger (ie., by cubic feet), it has a smaller turntable and less clearance from the back to the front such that I can no longer use my splatter cover - it is now too large for the new microwave 4. The controls on the older microwave were easier to see due to lighter background on the numbers/lettering. With the new one I have to shine a light on the controls to see what I am programming. 5. Quality is not as good in the assembly -- there are uneven gaps in the way the wall fit inside the microwave 6. The controls are harder to activate. Sometimes I cannot get a connection when I press the numbers/functions pads. And they are flimsy compared to the old controls - They are easily dented when pressing on them. 7. Although I have only used the microwave for a day, it appears that at least one of the best features of the old one has disappeared. This is to select "reheat" and let the microwave figure it out. Now you have to push "reheat" and select a code for the type of dish you are warming up - the few selections to pick from are not very useful to me. 8. This is an expensive microwave oven for what it does. One can get much more powerful and higher quality for half the price - however if you want it to mount to your cabinet with just 4 screws this is all that is out there. A better option for me next time is to make a bracket under the cabinet to hold a microwave oven.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Size and A Great Product We had one like it from GE before that lasted 5 years and loved it. So we bought this new model to replace it. This microwave is compact enough to fit on the counter without taking over the space, yet large enough to fit a dinner plate in it. It is powerful enough for our needs and it makes very little noise. Much more quiet than the last one. The buttons are straight forward and the door latch mechanism has been improved and works great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the under cabinet design; not the "updates" LOVE this microwave and free space on my counter, but it's time to make it 1000 W. Also, the mounting holes in the top have inconveniently changed; the turntable doesn't make a 1 minute rotation anymore; and the timer only beeps one time now. However, it's the most practical and used appliance in my kitchen, and I still love it! I've had a Spacemaker for over 25 years and would definitely buy it again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Unit Had this same model for 14 years. This one is amazingly quiet and had a few different features than the original. Only disappointment was the mounting holes for undercabient where different an had to order a mounting kit for it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from MICROWAVE PEM31DFWW I think this product operates well, but at 800 W (Level 10) "can" overheat on defrost mode using weight designator.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Degradation of quality is a sign of our times. This is the third Profile Spacemaker I have purchased in 17 years, two to replace the original installed by the builder. A custom space requires the same microwave and this one was touted to fit as the old one did. It did not. The holes for hanging were moved and the door is 1/2" deeper. The quality of controls, door opener, and look in general are severely degraded from the one I purchased four years ago. A real disappointment, but I had no choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great under cabinet microwave Because of kitchen remodel, we bought this to replace our nearly 20 year old GE profile under cabinet microwave which still worked. It is quieter than the old one, same functions, front panel is slightly different, more modern looking. This is perfect for a small kitchen like ours. It hangs under a 24 inch wide cabinet about 13 inches off the counter top leaving countertop free. Hopefully this microwave will last as long as the first one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Previous model better, and it wasn't that great I bought this to replace my less than 5 year old GE profile b/c it is the only mid-capacity microwave that fits my space. The previous model melted inside, so I was hoping to find something else, but couldn't. First impression, not good: first of all, the dimensions given are not correct. Due to the way the cord attaches in back, the depth is about 14 inches. This was a crucial figure for us, so the unit hangs off the shelf. Also, the underneath housing is bright silver and very visible (black and more discreet in the previous model). Don't believe those photos on the website - if you hang it or set it eye level, you will see all the works that have been air-brushed out of the photos. There are fewer features and the light inside isn't as bright. The only feature I have tried is the "beverage" button. After a few minutes, it said there were 4 minutes left. Really? We checked and the water was near boiling. So, I wonder if the sensor works? You can bet I'll be testing this thing out thoroughly.
