Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing I bought this model to replace my GE JEM31BF undercabinet microwave oven that no longer heated. This is the only model of the same power that could be mounted the same way under the cabinet. So basically I had to buy this model to replace my old one. So here are the disappointing differences: 1. Screw holes were not in the same place for mounting 2. Size is a bit taller so that items I stored on the counter under the old microwave will no longer clear the new microwave 3. Even though the new microwave is supposedly larger (ie., by cubic feet), it has a smaller turntable and less clearance from the back to the front such that I can no longer use my splatter cover - it is now too large for the new microwave 4. The controls on the older microwave were easier to see due to lighter background on the numbers/lettering. With the new one I have to shine a light on the controls to see what I am programming. 5. Quality is not as good in the assembly -- there are uneven gaps in the way the wall fit inside the microwave 6. The controls are harder to activate. Sometimes I cannot get a connection when I press the numbers/functions pads. And they are flimsy compared to the old controls - They are easily dented when pressing on them. 7. Although I have only used the microwave for a day, it appears that at least one of the best features of the old one has disappeared. This is to select "reheat" and let the microwave figure it out. Now you have to push "reheat" and select a code for the type of dish you are warming up - the few selections to pick from are not very useful to me. 8. This is an expensive microwave oven for what it does. One can get much more powerful and higher quality for half the price - however if you want it to mount to your cabinet with just 4 screws this is all that is out there. A better option for me next time is to make a bracket under the cabinet to hold a microwave oven.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor performance and expensive as well! I'm so sorry I bought it! I ordered it over the phone since I loved my old one. Doesn't always rotate properly. Noisy! Everything sizzles even at lower temperature levels and has to be covered! A real pain! Much bigger than my old one! Makes noise when going! They only had black and you can barely see what the buttons say. I thought it was the same number as my old one but was I wrong!! Just awful! I paid too much as well! My biggest mistake of the year! I hate it!!!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as it used to be... Our old 1992 GE SpaceSaver finally gave out. We bought this as a replacement. It's tinny, had sharp edges on the door, you can't read the buttons even though it's eye level. People said it burned microwave popcorn. I thought it was because they used the popcorn button. I used it like I used to use the old one. Used power level 3 and stopped the turntable and it still burned. The one thing I do like about it is the turntable and the fact that you can turn it off if you want to. I didn't have that in my old one. If you don't need a space saving oven, I would not recommend this one. We had to have it because of the space on the shelf we have for an oven over our stove.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent product with life was longer I had at least 4 of these spacesaver microwaves over 20 years. It would great if they could last as long as a conventional oven (going on 40 years). Every five years when I replace it, GE changes the under cabinet screw holes. Why can't they keep the screw holes in the same place. My cabinet is looking like swiss cheese (4 installs, 4 new holes each time for a total of 20 holes.). I continue to buy this product because it is the only one with diminisions I need. I would choose another brand if I could.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good replacement for Spacesaver II This is a good replacement for the Spacesaver II. In fact, it may be the only one. This oven is much quieter than its predecessor, Installation is more difficult as the screw holes are different on the right side from the previous model. You may need to buy the installation kit to go with it. Only complaint I have is that the background of the front color is black, so if the kitchen is not well lit, you cannot see the numbers when you try to heat something. Does not have any backlight.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Previous model better, and it wasn't that great I bought this to replace my less than 5 year old GE profile b/c it is the only mid-capacity microwave that fits my space. The previous model melted inside, so I was hoping to find something else, but couldn't. First impression, not good: first of all, the dimensions given are not correct. Due to the way the cord attaches in back, the depth is about 14 inches. This was a crucial figure for us, so the unit hangs off the shelf. Also, the underneath housing is bright silver and very visible (black and more discreet in the previous model). Don't believe those photos on the website - if you hang it or set it eye level, you will see all the works that have been air-brushed out of the photos. There are fewer features and the light inside isn't as bright. The only feature I have tried is the "beverage" button. After a few minutes, it said there were 4 minutes left. Really? We checked and the water was near boiling. So, I wonder if the sensor works? You can bet I'll be testing this thing out thoroughly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I had no other choice For our home remodel, I purchased this microwave. It last 17 months. I had to go buy a new one today. Because of the type of other appliances I have, and the cabinet that was made just for this one, I had to buy the exact same model. I had no other choice.
