Rated 5 out of 5 by from ** Glad we baught it! We've had our PT7800 for a month now. We chose the 7800 over the PT9800 because we felt we would be buying features that we just wouldn't use. Everything on the 7800 is as expected. Yes the beeper volume is lower but I can still hear it in the family room over the TV. The microwave can be set for cooking in other that 30 second increments. Simply press Add 30 secs then turn the knob to the exact number of min/secs that you desire. The door opening downward is not inconvenient; I just step to one side to reach the back for cleaning. ONE drawback. The door latching arms are mounted in the door and stick up when the door is open. While removing a hot dish I bumped my elbow and almost had a catastrophe. The latching arms should be in the housing and the latching wells in the door.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features, Easy to Use I bought this appliance because of the ratings and reviews I read about it. They were all correct. The appliance not only looks great in my kitchen, but it functions perfectly. It is easy for everyone in my house to operate it and it cooks perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased so far I've only owned my wall oven/microwave for a week, but so far I'm very pleased with its performance. The pre-programmed settings make perfect popcorn, and the soup and hot chocolate are exactly the right temperature. I also just used the microwave as a convection oven to bake a small cake, and it came out beautifully. The controls are a little clunky--you have to push a lot of buttons and turn the dial a lot to perform even simple tasks. With other microwaves I've had, you could push one button to get it to cook for 1-5 minutes immediately. Also, the traditional flat racks in the lower oven are a little hard to pull in and out. But the cooking performance is so good that I'm willing to put up with a few quirks. The stainless steel is also a little shinier than my other stainless appliances, which have a more brushed steel appearance. But I've got four different brands of appliances in my kitchen, so I can't expect perfect coordination.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Combo Micro/Oven is beautiful, however I just received my new slate kitchen last week. All the appliances are beautiful looking. This combo oven is giving me quite the time though. The two racks in the oven could barely be moved. I, nor my husband, couldn't adjust the racks at all. The service tech (here for another issue) was able to eventually adjust the racks. Anyone else having such a time with them? Will they start moving like regular racks soon? Besides for the squeal they make when pulled out or pushed in, they are not smooth moving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Performance, Appearance and Reliability Both the microwave and the conventional oven perform extremely well. The microwave provides far better results than any other microwave I have used, with programmed options that perform extremely well. The capacity is large, making it far more versatile as both a convection and microwave oven. The conventional oven does an excellent job roasting, broiling and baking. I have been extremely pleased with the performance of the sensor probe. It is extremely accurate, and gives me a degree of control over roasting I did not have with my old oven. I like the fact that broiling occurs with the oven door closed, keeping the kitchen cooler, cleaner and less smoky. Both ovens work very well as convection ovens. Neither seems to get overly dirty, and both clean easily. The controls are fairly intuitive, and I adapted to them easily. I have been extremely happy with all aspects of the oven and expect to enjoy it for years to come.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good but impossible to keep clean I have enjoyed this micro-convection oven for over a year but have two complaints that may or may not dissuade others from purchasing this type of oven. Other than the two issues, this is a very spacious oven with a lot of versatility and I use it often for any assortment of uses. It cooks roasts and other meats in no time at all, is great for thawing meats for spur of the moment ideas, and you can cook on the bottom rotating pan while also heating up something on one or even two racks. Very nice. Now for the two issues, both of which I think GE could address and correct for future models: First, I wish it had a feature to turn off the fan so that the oven could be used like an ordinary oven. Old family recipes, like my grandmother's or mother's breads, cookies, cakes, and any other baked goods should not be cooked in a convection oven, and the directions provided for use with the oven also do not adapt well for those old recipes. In fact, this is not a good oven for baking, period. More disturbing; however, is that it is HORRIBLE TO CLEAN! The instructions plainly state that you cannot use any oven cleaners and it tells you to put some water in a glass container, turn on the microwave to create condensation on the surfaces of the oven, then wipe with a soft cloth. This does not clean off the acrylamide (brown sticky) coating (see attached photo) that occurs over time and, since no chemicals are permitted, the oven will become pretty nasty, even in a year, and eventually, I imagine, will not cook efficiently because of all of the build-up. Sure wish GE would come up with a cleaner for their ovens that would get rid of the baked on nasty stuff!
