Rated 5 out of 5 by SnowBun from Better than I expected and the answer to bathroom privacy I ordered one of these blinds for our bathroom which has a large window looking out to the house next door. We needed light in the room, yet privacy. These turned out to be the exact answer to our problem. They allow you to have as much light or privacy as you want, by simply moving the bar up and down. There's not a lot of description on the website so I hope mine helps if you're on the fence...basically if you can imagine a regular cellular shade, but this one has two bottom bars. You hold the very bottom bar in one hand, while moving the upper bottom bar with your other hand. Move it up to reveal more of the privacy shade, or move it down to reveal more of the light filtering shade. The very bottom bar also completely raises the whole shade to the top of the window if you want to raise the blinds to see outside. It's really a brilliant design. It's also well thought out where the darker shade is at the bottom, giving privacy where most would want it- from the bottom up, as far as you want, yet allowing you to still have light at the top. They're also cordless and they stay where you put them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by valueseeker from These blinds are beautiful! Made well and easy to install. I have already noticed a reduction in outside traffic. These blinds are beautifully made and operate effortlessly! I live on a busy street and I immediately noticed a reduction in outdoor noise. Very Classy looking and easy to install. Only issue was a missing box of "mounting hardware" with one of the blinds.

By room darkening, does this mean blackout? And is it possible to pull that portion down the entire way versus just the bottom half like the picture?
I'm considering these for a toddler's room where I would like privacy but light during most of the day but then blackout during naps.
Room darkening is not blackout. Yes, the bottom portion of the shade (room darkening portion) can be lower all the way to the bottom.

Are these identical in look to the precut (non-custom) day/night cellular shades?
I have two windows that are standard sizes and one that would need a custom size. I would like to know if the standard day/night cellular shade and the custom day/night cellular shade look the same so that I would not have to order three custom shades. Thanks!
Hello. I was in this same dilemma just a few weeks ago. The description for the custom blind doesn't say that there is a difference, but there is. I was trying to do the same thing with 3 shades for one window in my living room on the front of the house. I needed the non-custom size for the middle window and 2 customs on either side of the non-custom one. Because they were going to be in the same window I wanted to make sure they would be matching. I called customer service and she was able to help me with the answer that the non-custom daylight is the color of the shade on both sides, but the night is white on the street side and the color on the inside. For the custom, the color of the shade is the same for day and night on both sides . They don't have it white on the street side for the dark. So I didn't order the shades then because they wouldn't have matched outside and I would have needed to make them all custom which is really expensive but would have been the way to do it, then your custom blinds would all be made from the same fabric dye lot too, which was another one of my concerns. I was really disappointed that they weren't the same. All in all, I do like the non-custom day/night shades as I have them in 2 bedrooms. Having the choice of making it light filtering or dark is really nice. The only thing I wish they would have included 2 plastic lifts for each shade instead of one, as when you lift the bottom of the shade in the middle, it seems easy to get them a little lop-sided instead of even but if you could lift from both sides you could keep it even easier. I hope this helps with your decision.
