Rated 5 out of 5 by Underdsun1 from Beautiful, Durable And Wonderfully Functional. I purchased three of these shades in linen stripe in spring of 2009, one is custom, two were a regular size that didn't require a custom order. I absolutely love them. I have two large windows that face west, so in Ohio from mid-day to sunset, the sun shines thru those windows. I love having natural light, but the direct sun can be brutal. These shades, with the double sheer feature allows me to leave the sheer down, allowing natural light in, but not as brutal as being completely open. They also fixed a design dilemma of my house that included the air registers being against the wall directly below my windows. The sheer double feature in lieu of sheer panels allows my furnace or air conditioning to not be blocked by panels that would hang down directly over the register. These get daily use at my house, as we close the shades nightly for privacy and reopen daily. They still maintain the same color without fading and continue to function normally. These were a wonderful purchase!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by trucloud from Lovely Blinds But Beware ... These are beautiful, unique blinds, but buying them is not for the faint of heart. First, JCP doesn't offer swatches you can order online so I went to my local JCP window department, figuring they would have them there. Nope. The clerk said If I wanted these blinds, I'd have to take a leap of faith that the photos were accurate. Gulp. I debated it. Spurred on by the other positive reviews, I went for it. Fortunately, the two colors I ordered were similar to their photos. The sage is a dark moss color. The ecru a light creamy yellow. Next, I had to wait - nearly six weeks (they are made, cut, and shipped from Hong Kong). Finally, if you are ordering a larger size, be aware that you will receive the same hardware as the smaller sizes, meaning three brackets. They are not enough. We have a 70" window, which really needed four brackets. We had to supply the fourth bracket. Now that the blinds are up, however, I do love them. The double blind, with the sheer behind the main blind, is a great feature. I may get one more blind, if I have the courage for it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by KatieLee from Love double roman shades. My only draw back on these shades are that the cord pulls are behind the shade so you have to move/reach behind shade to raise them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Belizeshopper from Love it!! Love it!!! I purchased these shades in 2008 and I had no idea they still made these. This is the first review I've ever written. I came back to purchase another set for my bedroom! Five years later and these shades are still beautiful and perfectly functional. I purchased the linen color and it was true to the picture and absolutely beautiful and classy looking--I get so many compliments on these! After all of these years, the color has remained the same after getting wet by the rain multiple times ( my windows have a crack and sometimes rain gets in). The best feature of these shades are the double sheer backing which allows for natural light and optimal privacy. I live in a ground floor apartment in NYC which faces the street. The best part is that I can see everything from outside and no one can see inside my apartment from the outside. The shades block anyone from seeing inside but still allow all the beautiful light to come in!! Folks if you have any seconds thoughts, don't you won't regret buying these classy and elegant shades. I also put up a curtain rod and got beautiful curtain panels to match them. It's very versatile. No regrets and will be purchasing more for every room! I hope JCPenny never stops making them!

Rated 3 out of 5 by CakeBaker66 from A few issues, but good value for the money. I purchased nine of these shades for my house, to replace curtains and sheers that were 12 years old. With five of the nine shades, the pull cords did not work for the sheer part, and I needed to knot the pull cords where I wanted them. Three of the shades were purchased in the sage scroll pattern and I painted my walls to match the sage color- when daylight comes through the shade (even with the sheer behind it), looks like a dirty brown color, not sage. I realize they are not darkening shades, which I did not want, but the fabric itself is so sheer that the only color seen through it is the tan threads for the scrolls. I also purchased two in the sienna stripe pattern- online the color looks dark brown and gold, but when I received them they were a rusty multi-stripe brown-orange color with a bigger tan stripe. If JCPenney had a sample of this in the store and I saw it, I would not have ordered this color. I purchased two in the red scroll and they were very nice and true to color. I also purchased two in the blue stripe and they did the same thing the sage scroll shades did- looked brown in the daylight. The only reason I do not send them back is because I spent over $900 and waited seven weeks for them, and did not want to spend any more of my time and money to send them back. If I can get 10 years out of them, they might be worth it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Mary79 from Cheap fabric, poorly made I originally custom ordered these Roman shades for my bedroom in 2007. They were beautiful! Elegant, functional, perfect. Upon moving to a new home this year, I was so happy to see they still made these shades. After spending good money to custom order these for 5 different windows, they arrived in poor quality. The material for both layers is now cheap, as before it was durable and held up for years. Disappointment is an understatement. I really used to love these shades, but not with this degree of diminished quality.

Rated 3 out of 5 by disme from 3 things wrong I bought the Linen Scroll balloon shade/Roman Blind with beaded trim. The quality of fabric is excellent and seems good quality, easy to hang, etc., , but there were 3 things wrong: 1. Linen Scroll - should be called Gold Scroll. They are not a typical linen color, but rather VERY gold/yellow. 2. one of the control/stings pulled out of the blinds before they were hung. 3. From the back (outside) there are cords and rods against the window. it looks terrible from the outside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by alwaysremodeling from "double" feature is the best I've done extensive remodeling in my home. Some things work out, some not so much. Every time I look at these shades I think it was one of the best remodeling choices we made. The double feature of having a blocked window with the shade, or a sheer look, and actually it's triple since you can have a clear view as well, makes this shade work in any kind of outside weather no matter what the weather, sunny or shady. No matter what lighting you want in your room, you can achieve it with this shade. They are holding up well, look classy, I cannot say enough about these. I'm hoping they are still available because we want to purchase more.

How wide is the top rail for the inside mount?
You can specify the width when you place the order to fit your window. However I would recommend ordering a little less than the actual width of the window so you have a buffer. So if your window inside mount is 37" then request 36 3/4" to allow a buffer to install easily.

Can i get a swatch of the ecru color and linen color?
I cannot return these roman shades since they are custom. I am nervous about the color. I want to make sure they will match my room before ordering.
Hi, I have had this color in a stripped. In my opinion they are creamy, with a light golden color. I have them against a cream wall. The color goes with a lot of other colors. More on the lighter side. I absolutely love them! They are in my kitchen area,to me they look french looking, very elegant. I love that I have options . I can pull both shades up, or I can just pull the top stripped shade up and leave the sheer showing. Everyone that has seen them just loves them as much as I do.

The picture shows that the shade cords are tied off on the window. Is this necessary or do the shades automatically lock?
As you pull the cord, they lock to where you want them to be. The cords then hang on the side, but can be wrapped around a clear hook that comes with the shades when you order, just to keep from dangling . I love these Roman shades
