Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sateen? Not. A set of top quality sateen sheets costs at least three times as much as these, and usually more. If you didn't know that beforehand, you will most definitely learn it when you receive these Royal Velvet 400tc sheets. No complaints about quality of construction (it's excellent), but the sheets are thin and horribly noisy, especially for sheets sold as sateen. They're far noisier than even our percale bedding! There's no nap or other signs of brushing whatsoever on these sheets, which is what defines a sateen finish. Instead they appear to be coated in silicone or some other chemical -- a casual rub of a hand across them results in a shiny gloss that looks far more like silicone than starch. Long story short, as always you get what you pay for. Don't expect much at this price and you probably won't be disappointed. The sheets have been relegated to permanent backup duty in our house, when our genuine sateen sheets are unavailable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sheets and fantastic JCP Customer Service I gave a 2-star rating for these sheets yesterday because the JCP return policy stated I would have to pay for return shipping. I called JCP today to see if I could get an exchange (using the same discount) because the color on the website is not accurate. The rep gave me the same discount, sent me a FREE return label via email, and gave me FREE expedited shipping on the replacement set. That's what I call fantastic service, just wish the policy statement shown on the website was updated. As for the color of the sheets, I ordered Mink and it is much darker than the online picture, almost like the Chocolate Brown color. I ordered Steel Blue last year and it was a dark gray, but I could live with the dark gray, but not the dark brown for this set. I went through all the colors shown online with the JCP rep and she agreed the color that shows on the top (which changes when you select a color) doesn't necessarily match the color of the sheets in the stack picture. She said she'd send a note to corporate informing them of this issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Color wheel This is my second set of these queen sheets from Penney's. Quality is excellent and sheets feel great while sleeping. VERY deep pockets. Problem is color. Seems Penney's can't name or illustrate colors worth a darn. No, it is NOT my computer--I order online all the time and colors are always true. Months ago I ordered bath rugs color named sleek brown. They are dark gold/amber/burnt orange, but certainly NOT brown. Then I ordered sheets color named steel blue and illustrated as blue in the photo. They are DEEP charcoal grey. I returned them as they made the bed appear to be a black hole. I exchanged these sheets for a color named ash and illustrated as a light grey. It is a dark grey--lighter than the aforementioned charcoal sheets, but decidedly not a light color. One problem with Penney's sheets is that if you want a light color other than variations of white and beige, they don't make them. Sure limits sales. GREAT sheets, but could you please venture into the light blues, pinks and greens? There is no Penny's location near my home, so checking in store is not an option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally Happy I am very pleased with this sheet set. When I opened the package I was concerned because they felt so slick - not what I expected from 100% cotton - and I do not care for satin, silk or microfiber sheets at all. After washing they felt much better. There were very few wrinkles when I removed them from the dryer even though I didn't do it for several hours after the dryer stopped. The few wrinkles there were worked themselves out while making the bed. When I make the bed you can't even tell that the pillow case had been a rumpled mess from the way I mashed the pillow during the night. The fitted sheet has elastic all the way around and it stays on the bed; no corners slipping off in the middle of the night. Love that! The sheets that were on the bed before these were also 400 thread count (from a different manufacturer and store) but now feel light weight in comparison. These Royal Velvet 400 thread count Wrinkle Free sheets have a substantial feel that I like and appreciate. They are smooth and soft and very comfortable. I will definitely purchase them again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Sheets I've Ever Owned At 66, I've had plenty of sheet sets in my lifetime. Some were extremely nice, but NONE compared to these. When they arrived, I put them straight into the washer then the dryer. They came out looking as if they'd been ironed. When I do the weekly laundry, I always dry sheets in a load of their own. Most sheets come out a bit crumpled and need smoothing while making the bed. These sheets come out perfectly beautiful. They fit my deep mattress with room to spare -- no more struggling to get the fitted sheet to fit. To my surprise, when I climbed into bed made with these sheets for the first time, there was no "chill" such as one usually experiences with cotton sheets. They are soft and very inviting -- perhaps a bit TOO inviting. :) Thankfully being retired I don't have to worry about oversleeping, because it's SOOOOO hard to get out of bed and leave the soft comfort of these wonderful sheets.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value So after having these for over a year and a half, I have to say these have held up really well. Smooth, comfortable, and show no signs of pilling or tearing. The one complaint I have is that they have developed a few sweat stain spots that are quite noticeable, though I am not sure if this is a quality issue or due to myself being a heavy sweater. Either way, still recommend though you might want to consider the fact if you are a heavy sweater.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from differently made ! Last year I purchased these sheets and they were so soft and silky feeling but the fitted sheet doesn't fit a 15 inch mattress properly. Way too large. I have tried to find other sheets that are this soft and silky and have not found any that would fit better. Went back and bought another set to suspender them to my mattress and they are not made the same way at all. Not as silky soft as a year ago .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the feel... It was time for new sheets and after researching several I decided to go with the Royal Velvet® 400tc Wrinkle Guard Sheet Set. I bought four sets Ash and extra pillow cases for each (cal king and queen), Mink (cal king), and Palmetto Red & extra pillow cases (cal king). Love the color of each, very rich colors. The Palmetto Red sheets are on my bed. Love the sheets but this color shows every piece of lent and fuzz, and is a reminder that dry ashy skin does rub off on your sheet...yes, that shows too. The feel of the sheets are GREAT! The fitted sheet has stretched out and now seems to be to big for the mattress. The pockets fit fine, it just seems too big now. My mattress is 15" thick. My daughter has not put her sheets on her bed yet, so no feedback there. And the man of the house says that the Ash color sheets in the "Snore Room" are great. He loves them.

Do these sheets feel light weight? We are looking for a heavy feeling sheet.

Asked by: Kingsport
I would say no - they are not "heavy" in weight ( I assume you mean as a top sheet --- but they do hold up well to washing- they are not "thin".

Queen size fitted sheet Whoul it fit matters that is 14 inches high?

Asked by: Lana
As stated - these sheets fit the newer mattress sizes- you might want to consider flat sheets instead of these which have elastic on all sides.

Fitted sheet/elastic

I ordered these sheets last year and love the feel of them. However, the fitted sheet was way too large and loose on my 15 inch mattress. Anyone purchase recently and feel they may have upgraded to a stronger elastic for a better fit?
Asked by: Sonj17
Most newer mattresses are much "higher" than 15" - and that's why these are made to fit the new industry standard measurements- it's not anything to do with how strong the elastic is- also "older" sheets didn't even have elastic all around like these do.
