Rated 2 out of 5 by from Overall OK but ... Overall, this bedspread is OK if purchased on sale. However, it fell short of my expectations: - The shams (available here) & the bedspread do not match. They were shipped separately. Although likely another die lot, they also appear to be different colors ... one more of a maize and the other more of a tan. - The edges are not hemmed, but rather poorly finished. The raw edge is surged over like a carpet or the inside of edge of a pair of pants. - I have owned several Matelassé spreads, coverlets, & linens. This is the poorest quality one that I've ever seen. On the upside, the weight is good for warmer months and the size of the spread is huge. I typically purchase bedding & linens at another online store, and I believe I have always gotten an excellent value there. With regard to this item, I'm not so certain. Color was so important to me for this purchase that I chose JCP for easy in-store returns. Royal Velvet is not a brand that I will purchase in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful but it shrinks! I love, love, love this matelasse'. It is not as thick and heavy as most spreads of this style, but I like that. I prefer to think of it as "airy." Now, the only "negative:" Do be aware, it shrinks like nobody's business. MEASURE your area and be sure you've got the wiggle room for a good 6 inches or more of shrinkage. For me? This was PERFECT! I have a high profile queen mattress. Even so, this bedspread out of the package pooled up in the floor. (Yes, I ordered a queen bedspread.) It was so bad, I thought I'd have to send it back. So, I decided to wash it. I washed it carefully. I washed it in cold water. I washed in Woolite. I dried it on low heat in my dryer. It still shrunk like a head in the Amazon jungle! Mind you, I needed for it to. Still, be sure you have the same room to play with when considering this bedspread. It is perfect for me, and I would highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful detailing with rich texture. Just charming. Bedspread detailing and fabric is just beautiful. Heavy enough fabric to drape to the floor in perfect swells, with subtle needlework that speaks of quality fabric. I choose the gold spread to pair with powder blue hued bed pillows and gilded gold throw pillows. Just wonderful in a very classic way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No complaints at this price! Fabric is soft, taupe color in pleasing, neutral and seems to be durable (time will tell). Very pleased with what I got for the price I paid.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from metalasse bedspread fabric did not meet my expectations Loved the color of the spread but the fabric was not what I expected. Returned for that reason

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Shrinks, ALOT perfect till first wash, cold water, warm-not hot dryer, and it shrank 8-10 inches in width and length. If I had a full size bed to put it on instead of my queen it would be great. Color was fine, not true metallase but pretty and lightweight, just don't wash it or dry it unless you want a coverlet instead of a bedspread.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible! I purchased this because of the good reviews. I don't think anyone who wrote a review had washed the bedspread. When I put it on the bed and it hung all the way to the floor, I was well pleased because I have had a problem finding a spread long enough to hang to the floor. At first my main problem was the spread was stiff and clung to itself and the bed linens so making and unmaking the bed was difficult. After a couple of weeks, I decided to wash it to soften it. As per the instructions, I used only cold water and dried in the dryer on extra low which meant it took 2 hours to dry. THE SPREAD SHRANK OVER A FOOT!!! It now might fit a queen size bed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pretty, good value, wrinkles more than expected I have been searching for a bedspread for a long time. I bought two of these and I am happy with the size for both my eastern king and California king beds. They reach almost to the floor and I can cover the pillows so these could be used with or without pillow shams (note I have footboards on both beds so I do not know how the bedspread would work if you wanted to cover pillows and not use shams if you had no footboard). I was just tired of the bed skirt look. The only disappointment is they seem to wrinkle easily. I fold them back at night and the folds show the next day. They are not "filled" so they lay flat which gives a more elegant look than the puffy kind.
