Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Quilt!! This is called a bedspread but to me it is a quilt, and it is beautiful!!! My mom gave me this in queen sized for Christmas. I have a queen size bed, and based on the sizes shown here vs normal quilts, I returned the queen size and purchased the full size in this, and it is perfect for my bed. It hangs down nicely on both sides, and I tucked the plain cream section under the end of the bed. I don't have a footboard on my bed but it still looks nice. The weight is perfect for me - I tend to get overheated easily and this quilt is sturdy enough to hold up to lots of use, and lightweight enough that I don't get too hot. It is a true 'pieced' quilt, with gorgeous embroidery, not just a pre-printed fabric that looks like a pieced quilt like some I've seen. I highly recommend this item!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the look of this quilt set! I read all the reviews on the Cassandra "King" size quilt before ordering it, so I pretty much knew what to expect about the one end with lots of open space. I had also purchased the "overpriced" king shams to go with it because I like the look of shams on my bed. I, at first, had the quilt positioned so that the white (actually, off-white) folded up over our sleeping pillows and put the sham pillows on top. It looked very nice, but my husband is a garage tinkerer and was worried that he might get grease or something accidently on the white part so I ended up putting the large white part at the foot of the bed and tucking it under the mattress. This has worked out well because we have a foot board, so you can't see that end of the quilt very well, but the bed still looks beautiful when made up. I had been looking for a quit for a long time with these colors and one that that was actually "pieced" so I am quite happy with it. I also purchased it during a good sale, so that took the sting out of the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We both love this spread Finding a bedspread that works for me and my husband isn't easy. He doesn't like too girly. This one is perfect. The colors are soft and blended perfectly with our room. The quality is very good. I love that it goes to the floor on both sides and doesn't need any kind of dust ruffle on the bed. I'm very, very pleased.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice colors I love the colors and the idea of this spread, but am very disappointed that the top design on the spread is not centered on the bed, it is designed to flow over the end of the bed. The top of the design does not go to the base of the pillows, there is a wide section of the ivory materia. It does not show in the pictures because they have it folded. I guess if you really make your bed this way with the spread folded back and the accent pillows there, it would be great but I think most of us prefer to make the bed and not have to deal with moving 4 or 5 accent pillows every day. I have a pillow top king, and the spread does cover more than the average spread, but will still need a bedskir to keep from seeing under the bed. Still, beautiful quilt and excellent if you have a queen bed and can use the king to prevent requiring a bedskirt, and can then tuck the plain top under the pillows so the design is centered on the bed. Accent pillows overpriced!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful piece of work. I love this green Cassandra pieced bedspread. The pattern has a soothing flow of different greens (including blue-green and warmer greens) along with the ivory and a few touches of red, wine, dark beige and yellow-tan. The embroidered floral vine pattern is done securely, as is the snaky machine quilting. The cotton fabric feels sturdy and right for a quilt. The quilt is not puffy the way a comforter would be; just thick enough to add a bit of warmth and a lovely cover to the bed. My biggest negative is common to most bedspreads I have seen on the market: Why not make rounded corners for the part that goes at the foot of the bed? The corner is a little bit rounded, but not enough to keep it from dragging on the floor when the foot and sides are near the floor. I am thinking of getting a bedskirt, which is not supposed to be necessary with a bedspread. Also I wish they had continued the side edge pattern around to the foot of the bedspread. Regardless, I love this bedspread and am glad to have it on my bed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, great quality This bedspread is just gorgeous, I love it! Its size is very generous for our king size bed. The fabric is very soft and the colors are beautiful. The ivory at the top is not a problem, if you don't have a footboard, you can place the bedspread as it appears on the JCP site and it will fit just fine. I saw some comments that the spread was short, when in fact it is over sized, very long and very generous in width as well. I don't like the spread over my pillows, so I fold the top back slightly so it's under the pillows. Colors are beautiful, and the pattern on the sides enhances the whole look. The dye or something did have a strong smell right out of the packaging. One wash removed the scent completely. The king spread fit just fine in our large capacity washer and dryer, and it did not wrinkle! I've looked for ages to find a spread (I wanted it to be larger than a comforter and look like a quilt) that was high quality, washable, and large enough. GREAT find, highly recommend. Not too hot, not too lightweight. I'm including a picture to show the length on the side and the design, and how well the pillows hide the ivory at the top if you want.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value and very pretty I bought this quilted bedspread on sale and wondered how it would look in my bedroom. It looks great! The colors are great for spring and summer. I purchased the king size bedspread for my king size bed that the wood frame of which is 7 inches above the carpet. The bedspread does not touch the carpet; it is just under 4 inches above the carpet, which is fine with me. I centered the trip-around-the-world pattern in the center of the bed, which left the bedspread a little short at the foot of the bed. But that does not matter as I have a foot board on our bed. The pattern fits the entire top of the bed left to right and top to bottom. That leaves enough bedspread to go over the pillows, or fold under the pillows. Bedspreads have enough material to go over pillows and quilts usually to not. I have not had the bedspread long enough to comment on the durability, but I have owned several JCP bedspreads and have always been pleased.

At your local Penney's store - and as to the price, Penney's always has great sales, so watch your e-mail and newspaper for the sales and get your bedspreads and shams half price, sometimes. I just did!

Answer:
I would call it a medium-light bedspread. Sturdy, but not as puffy and warm as a comforter would be. I like this because it is good in medium-warm weather, and we are adding a blanket during cold weather.

It's not a thick, heavy quilt but it's a nice. medium weight. What surprised me was that it is plenty warm for being a relatively light qullt.

Answer:
Not very heavy at all, I have a sheet and quilt on my bed right now, and sleep very well, when it gets colder I will put on a down quilt also. I like mine to touch the floor and this is a lot shorter than I would like. next time I will order the king and just alter the pillowcases.

Answer:
JCPenney's size for a King-sized mattress is 78 x 80" and the King size, Cassandra bedspread is 120 x 118". Most King sized mattresses are 78 x 80"; some are 76 x 80". The bedspread sizes are mostly 120 x 118" and a few are 120 x 120". Therefore, I believe the King sized Cassandra bedspread is a true king-size bedspread.

i also thought that it was more like a quilt than a bedspread. it is lovely but i find that i would have liked it softer. i was thinking of a quilted bedspread when i ordered it...but it is lovely in color and i put the section that is white on the bottom of the bed instead of the head as i am not a" pillows on the bed" person. great price also!

Answer:
Actually, it is polyester microfiber, which is very soft, yet sturdier than cotton. I am very pleased that they didn't make the backing of cotton, because on our last quilt, the all-cotton backing was so lightweight that it wore out before the quilt top and we had to replace the whole thing.
The microfiber polyester is not slick or slippery; it feels like fine cotton. It coordinates with the cotton fabrics on the top of the quilt in both appearance and feel.
