Rated 3 out of 5 by from The fit is good but shrinks alot! Talls and classic off the rack. Miust be the material. Bought the classic size 6 in the store because I started a new job and needed pants right away. The fit is great but the length just made it as always. I am 5'8 140lbs. I take either a 6 or an 8 depending on the manufacture. The lengths off the rack are never long enough. I hate seeing my ankles! The classic fit just a little longer. I had hopes. Well the first washing did them in. They are so short I have to wear matching black boots so you don't see my ankles. I wish the "average" was longer. No one in my family has ever been what they call average all the girls 5'8 and taller. So I ordered the talls on line in a 6. They were nice and long. I had to cuff them when I had no shoes on in the house. Well one washing and they shrank so much I was shocked! Now for the second washing I wonder if they should even go in the dryer at all. Lets be real I don't have time to hang every item and iron it so it doesn't shrink. I like the colors and the fit, its a shame the shrinkedge is so much.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fall/Winter Slack-Not So For Spring/Summer I like the spandex material included with the cotton because they start off tight and loosen to a comfortable state for me. I also like the fact that the spandex will allow the cotton to hold the color longer for the darker colors. I think the material is too thick for a summer or warm spring pant. The texture is somewhat rough compared to a all cotton trouser/slack. I like the simple button and zipper closer and not the extra flap of material to button as well. Angled pockets are nice when you have hips as they'll stay closed. I don't open the back slit pockets and this allows the rear side of the pants to continue with a fitted look and not with a curled pocket-I do this with all my rear pockets dress slacks. I could wear these for dress-casual or casual.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what they used to be I have purchased these pants for a few years and there have been small changes but overall the same fabulous pants. Own them in all colors Restocking for this year and they are all going back! Material is cheap feeling like polyester instead of cotton. I noticed they are being made in a different country than in past years. The fit is terrible-too big in the hips. I ordered average and they are way too long. I want last year's pants back!!!! Sad to start the hunt for good pants again with another company. These were the best.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the same pants i have bought for years I LOVE JCP!!! Have been a loyal customer for 30+ years now along with my best friend and my mom also. I lost weight so i needed all new clothes, All the capris and shorts were great, as always,,,,however when i received these pants they were not the same fabric, had belt loops (the previous style did not and the zipper was on the side making them smooth and slimming, very classy looking pants---although they ran big) The new design is awful. After washing them, they shrank so much i could barely get them on..too late, i am stuck with 2 pairs of pants i cannot wear now and trying to iron them was awful. Took them to cleaners and they still look bad. I will be donating them to a local church. PLEASE JCP...go back to the original style. We searched for a long time to find the perfect pants and want to buy them in every color when you do!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Different colors are sized differently I bought two pairs at the same time--one in biscotti, one in charcoal gray--both size 10. The charcoal gray had a slim, flattering fit and a narrower leg from top to bottom. The biscotti (khaki) colored ones were fuller in the hip (to the point that the fabric pooched out at the top of the thigh), fuller in the leg, flared at the hem, and longer. The fabric and construction were nice, the stretch is great, but the fits between different colors varied tremendously. I can't wear the biscotti size 10.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect! Ordered these because I've liked SJB clothing in the past and because of the reviews that mentioned a "great fit" and "higher-than-usual waist." I was hoping that meant the REAL waist, not the "natural waist," which is sitting at the top of your hip. But that is not the case, and that's why I gave these 4 stars instead of 5. Fortunately, I am able to sew; and so I will, as with virtually every pair of pants I've purchased in the past 5 years, take in the waist band to fit the way I want. Other than that, these pants are wonderful - love the fabric and the nice straight leg! I wish manufacturers would PLEASE make some pants the way they used to be, for those of us old enough to remember when they did not sit on our hips - very unflattering in most cases.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great I wear petite size 4 and often have trouble getting clothes to fit. These fit great, a little below my waist . The length is longer than most P4 and that's just what I like. Often P4 is short on me and feels uncomfortable. Even if they shrink a bit they will still be a good length . I have washed them several times and they come out of dryer looking good St. Johns petite pants are proportioned just right
Date published: 2016-11-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellence and quality all in one pair of pants This was my second purchase of St Johns Bay pants. I have found them to be of the best quality and fit. These pants have become my go to for work or dress. They are very comfortable and are made of the highest quality material. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great buy and a great fit.

Answer:
Yes, the black cotton & spandex pant shrunk in length - a least an inch- and I had to put a false hem in them. The denim cotton, polyester, and spandex did not shrink at all and maintained their nice crease after washing and drying them.

Answer:
I would suggest to hang dry. It's 93% cotton, so there is a risk of shrinkage. Mine is size 10 and i'm 5"7, so the length is perfect for me. And i was afraid that if it shrinks even a little -wouldn't be too good, so i hang dry them.

Answer:
I always hang my pants to dry then I'll tumble them for a few minutes in the dryer- before folding & hanging, to soften the fabric. Since I've just recently bought these again I can't answer in the present but in the past they didn't shrink at all. I still have 2 pair of the original pants I bought years ago and just measured them. They're fine.

Answer:
Yes, it is. I got jeans in "rinse". It looked like they will bleed color while washing. So i washed them by hands in cold water (basically rinse with a little detergent.) And they did the first time. After that - no problem, but i do wash them with blacks or dark colors anyway.

I'm going to say they're almost a boot or what could be called a trouser leg because when I measured the bottom opening I get about 18 inches.
They hang very nicely with platforms or heels. You wouldn't get that look with a straight leg. A totally beautiful pant.

I recently bought these pants and washed them before wearing. Now I'm having trouble getting them to look crisp. I dried them just a little, then warm ironed and hung them to dry the rest of the way. Still they don't look really pressed. I do not have a steamer. Any suggestions?

Answer:
I use a Rowenta steam iron and like the results I get with all my clothes. However, if you don't want to invest in a steam iron, I would suggest allowing the pants to dry completely, then use clothing starch when ironing. Also, fold the pant leg so you get the crease along the middle.

I haven't had to press them yet, so I can't answer your question. I love them though!! They are so comfortable and make me feel slim. With clothing similar to this though, I launder on the permanent press setting and then do a lower heat dryer setting. I don't dry the garments for the full cycle, just enough to remove wrinkles. I hope this helps you with your problem!

A year ago these pants were wonderful. I just ordered then again in December and they are horrible. Material is still and cheap looking. More like work pants than anything else. I pressed my using a handkerchief
so I wouldn't leave marks, otherwise I dampen them and place in the dryer a few minutes to get out the majority of wrinkles. If you have your receipt I would return them.
