Rated 5 out of 5 by from Didn't need "secretly slender" feature, 'cause the fit is nice -and- allows room for silk long johns when needed! I love jeans with the right length and a comfy straight leg. (I wear petite, am 5"1") These offer both. I needed jeans because I recently lost weight and actually kept it off so none of my previous clothes fit right. I am so used to shopping for the tummy tucking features that when I saw these in the size that fits best now, I scooped them up and tried them on. I don't want them too snug or too loose and these were just what goldilocks ordered ;) If there would have been the same style in smaller, I might have tried those, but realized these might shrink, as has happened before or I might gain a little of that fat back, in which case, the slenderizing feature would be there to save me. These fit in a relaxed way without looking baggy -anywhere-. It turned out that, with the recent cold, I needed a pair of silk long johns for warmth and they fit right underneath with ease. This was due to the comfy style/fit and touch of spandex. With all of those "fashionable" ripped looks, these were a refreshing relief to find.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sizing is way off The sizing/stretch on these jeans are so weird. In the store a size 8 regular wouldn't go over my thighs and so I tried on a size 10 regular. I got the medium and dark wash. About an hour after wearing the medium color they had stretched out so bad I could completely pull them off of me without unbuttoning/unzipping them. I tried washing in hot water and running through the dryer, still same problem. The dark tint has no stretch at all and is a perfect size and hasn't stretched out on me. So in the store I tried on a 10 petite and barely would fit me, so I try on a size 12 petite. Perfect! I bought 3 pairs and returned the 10 regular after explaining how bad it stretched. An hour or so after wearing the medium wash in the 12 petite, same problem. So bad I actually had to go home on lunch from work and change because they literally were falling off of me. I will be returning all 3 petites and staying away from St. John's Bay jeans for a very very long time...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good buy overall. Recommend. Bought these on sale. One pair in dark blue another in a lighter shade. The fabric is not heavy denim like traditional jeans. It is thin, but comfortable and pleasantly soft to the touch. The stretch supplies just the right amount of "give". They fit well overall. I bought "short" since I have been blessed with a long torso and short legs. <grin> However, they are still just a tad too long if I wear flats. (I am 5'7".) I used to wear Lee jeans and their short version fit better lengthwise. Pockets are not as deep as my former Lee jeans pockets. i'm a fan of deep pockets so I won't lose my keys etc.. Haven't lost anything yet, but I would like the security of deeper pockets. I'm about half way through a long overdue weight loss. (aka on a diet!) My old "fat jeans" were swimming on me, so I bought these as my interim jeans. I will be losing another ton of weight, so these will be swimming on me shortly. I will probably buy more in my new size. I love the soft fabric. Even though I am still too chunky, I have to admit, for me at least, the cut/shape of these are slimming on the legs. Who can argue with that? Seem well made. One buttonhole has a few loose threads, but they are holding up so far. Seems a good value for my dollar. No regrets.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SJB straight leg jeans This product is very well made and has a nice look to them. However you cannot just order these jeans, capri's or bermuda shorts online due to a sizing issue. They are all different sizes even when its the same size. I've ordered online and had to take back to store and then tried on several pairs that were all the same size (8) and each pair fit differently in waist and length. After 4 orders and 3 hrs at the store I ended up with 3 great pairs of jeans-size 8 petite, 2 capri's-size 4 & 2 bermuda shorts-size 6. LOL Go figure. I held up a size 6 against a size 8 on a few pairs and they were exactly the same in size. I love these jeans, capri's, shorts but you have to work for the pairs that fit you perfect. They run crazy in their size. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Fit! I bought these in all colors because they were on sale. I'm an African American woman with curves. I was hesitant to buy them for that reason, so I gambled and I'm glad I did. They fit amazingly! They are not cut too low and they are not too short in length. They are perfect. I'm so glad I bought them when they were on sale. They fit so well that I'm tempted to buy more just so I can have them in stock. :-) My black jeans faded and so I'm purchasing another pair. I'll be careful with cleaning this pair. Don't spend a fortune on "designer" jeans. Save some money and buy all of them in your size too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprised and delighted These pants in "tall" were adequately long, however not as long as my other JCP-brand (Stylus) jeans which I can actually roll up at least 2". The fabric is thicker than many other jeans I've tried (Eddie Bauer for example, which seem to have gone with a really thin denim); they feel good and hold their shape throughout the day. However, they are a little too high-waisted. When sitting at my desk all day the waist band doubles over. This also makes them less comfortable in the waist area when sitting in them all day vs. jeans that hit at the waist or lower. But not a deal breaker. I think they run slightly big, but I ordered my normal size (16) and I like the fit. Overall these jeans are a nice fit, comfortable, long enough and I'd buy them again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, slenderizing and classic fit. I purchased two colors and used the prior reviews to order my size. The reviews were right on. I purchased the washed medium denim in a size 12P and they fit slightly loose and comfortable. First time putting them on - they felt like my old comfortable jeans, but in a modern style. I bought the black in a 10P and it was a closer fit, but still ample room to move. The black looks dressy, not like jeans. Both colors had slight stretch in the fabric with ample sizing in the waist, so don't size up! I am petite 5'2" 150 pounds and my size runs between a 10-12. The petite were a little long, but I would rather have some length just in case of shrinkage. I usually wear boots with a 2" heel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect jeans, in every way Everything about these jeans is outstanding. The fabric has just the right amount of stretch. The denim color is perfect, as well as the weight of the denim. The "rise" is perfect. Most jeans ride down on me and I am usually pulling them up all day long. These jeans do not do this, they sit perfectly just below the navel. Even the length was perfect. I cannot say enough about the St John's Bay jeans. And if that isn't enough, the price was unbelievable. I will be going back to buy a 2nd pair of the blue denim and treat myself to a black pair. Jeans of this quality and price point are far and few between. I'm going to stock up while I can. This is my first St. John's Bay product. Now that I know the quality, I am anxious to try other St. John's Bay products. Thank you for making clothing for real women!

what is the difference between a misses and misses short?

Usually it is just the length. Short is longer than petite.

Length on talls and average

I wear a 12 and was wondering what is the length on the average length and the tall length. I'm tall, but apparently not tall enough. It seems that so many of the tall lengths are just too long and the average are just a bit too short.
Asked by: VickiH
They do run a little large so I bought one size smaller than I normally would wear. But keep in mind we all are built differently making the size vary. I'm 5'4", so I purchased a size 6 average and they fit perfectly with a little heal shoe.I think you would be safe in buying the 12 average, One thing about shopping at JCP, they've never give me any problems with my returns. Hope this helped in answering your question. JNLO

How well do the dark colors (black, ruby) for the straight-leg jeans hold up to washing?

I don't want the color to fade out after a couple of washes. Also, how do the colors hold up esp in the area of the knees, for regular wear?
Asked by: kingzkid
I always wash them inside out. haven't had any problems with the colors fading or bleeding.
