Rated 4 out of 5 by Pressman Good iron; good value
I needed to replace my old Sunbeam steam iron as the base fell apart, After looking through the features on various irons and having liked the performance on my old iron, I opted for replacing what I thought was the same instrument. I almost sent it back when I realized why it was heating up appropriately: the new model has the dial for heat settings notched 180 degrees differently than the old model. Also the burst and spray buttons are the reverse of the old model. Once I figured those out, it provided the same reliability. When it stands up its height is about 1/2 inch higher than the old one so it doesn't fit on the shelf where I store it when cold. I don't understand why they had to mess with success.

My Rowenta iron died recently and I had to run out and buy another iron pronto! Since JCP didn't have my first choice iron in stock in the store, I selected this iron based on the retractable cord and automatic shutoff feature - the shot of steam feature also sounded really good for dealing with stubborn wrinkles and doing creases. If the weight of an iron is a consideration for you, this is also an easy to handle medium weight (not light and definitely not heavy) iron and handles well. I am used to a much more powerful iron (specifically Rowenta) but I have to say, this iron did a very good job and did not disappoint me. For serious ironers however, who do a lot of men's shirts and more heavy duty ironing, this would not be the best choice. Even the shot of steam feature didn't get out bad wrinkles nor do a great job on my husband's denim jeans or work uniforms. It's a very good iron for every day light to medium weight work though and I would recommend it; I personally need more of a workhorse iron. I will be keeping it as good back-up iron should anything happen to my new Rowenta.

I had to purchase a new iron (my to my dismay) and stopped by JCP. Although there was no indication of pricing or any sales going on, I decided on the Sunbeam. Much to my pleasure, it was on sale (and I had a reward of $10.00) so it was a great price! I like that it has a non-stick surface and the base is much sturdier than my previous iron. I don't love the retractable cord since I had another iron (many years ago) that also had the retractable cord and that started to go bad. Fingers crossed they worked out the kinks for that feature.

I don't know what happened but I am taking this item back to the store. I just bought it on Saturday, June 18, 2016. On Sunday as I opened the box; I could not believe what I was seeing... the iron that was in the was a used one. It had water residue on the bottom and it looked old and there is a piece that is broken. I am going to have to make another trip to exchange it. I wish they would make sure that they don't put stuff up on the shelves if they know that they don't work. I have to waste my gas and time to go and exchange for a different one.

I purchase this Iron due to the fact that I had purchase one before ,but for some reason it just got too hot and the following day it didn't work at all. That was my reason for purchasing another one. Although I will have to take this one back due to the popping noise that it makes.
