Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Coat. Tough Duck lives up to it's name with this coat. This coat is for a man who likes a rugged coat. The exterior duck material is nail proof and does an excellent job of blocking the wind. Almost stiff when you get it new but will loosen up a bit after wear. Zipper and snaps are heavy duty. Interior nylon quilt lining allows coat to slip on easy over clothes. Coat is warm and have worn it when 25-50 degrees and works well. Hood is roomy and can be cinched down a bit. A great feature is the interior waist cinch also to provide a more snug fit and keep the wind out. Knit cuffs inside sleeves provide secure fit and keep cold out. I wear it for casual wear and for walking in the woods and have it both in brown and black I liked it so much. True to size. I'm 5'-10" tall, 156 lbs. and like a 39" chest and the size regular Medium fits me perfect. with me wearing a chamois shirt. Would recommend to rugged man who likes rugged tough gear. Not for the person who likes cottony soft.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this parka! I wear this parka only when the temperature hits the mid-20s or below. Reason? It's so well built, that I bake inside when it's warmer and I have to go to a lighter winter coat. The brass zipper and snaps are able to take the harshest treatment the weather or the wearer can throw at them. The stretch knit sleeve endings hug my wrists so well that drafts never creep up my arms. The tough canvas material keeps snow away from me and doesn't ever show a watermark, even in the most extreme snowy conditions. In the coldest weather, sometimes after walking from the bus to my office, my arms are damp from the warmth this parka gives. And while waiting for the bus outdoors, no winter coat has ever done better to keep me protected from the elements. The outer pockets are spacious and easy to get into and out of. I only wish that the coat would have something other than the roll-up collar to protect my mouth and chin from subzero wind chills, I will probably need to purchase a separate balaclava or something like that for that purpose. Otherwise, a tremendous product that I am thankful to have in the closet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great parka This is a very well made parka. The brass zipper is so much better than a plastic zipper. The large, detachable hood is a good feature too. This parka is perfect for cold winters in the Midwest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for our Midwest Winters Since we've been having record lows in the Midwest, we decided to purchase the heaviest coat possible. This coat is great!!! The material is duck cloth, so it's a little stiff but it's definitely warm. The hood is HUGE.......so if you happen to wear a hardhat, this is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight, comfortable, and warm. I bought this coat for my very cold-natured husband. He wanted a longer coat for more protection and this one is perfect. He is very picky about all of his clothes, and this coat has all the features that he likes.

Is this warm enough for MN winters?

Example, its going to be -34 to -45 with windchill this weekend. Will this coat keep me warm in these temps? How about normal MN temps of 0-32 degrees? Please let me know. Thank you!
Asked by: Lothar1974
A great question with no easy answer. There is no temp rating for outereear since the ability to regulate temp outdoors depends on one's metablolic rate, activity level, humidity, wind speed, outside temp and more. This parka will keep you warm through normal Minnesota temps but not in negative 35 degrees. Combined with a bib overall and the proper base layers, one could stay warm for.some period of time.

Is it noisy? Does it keep your back warm against a seat?

Does the material make a "swooshing" sound when it rubs against itself? If you are leaning against a seat, does the insulation compress so much that your back feels cold? (My husband really dislikes coats that compress the insulation when he leans back making his back feel the cold of the car seat.)
Asked by: sweetsoils
It does not make swooshing sounds. This Hydro Parka is designed to keep you warm even when the insulation is compressed. The Quilted poly design insulates and traps the body heat, making this one of the most durable and warmest Parkas on the market.

what is the length of the sleeves?

Being looking for this for Mts. My brother is 6"7 and will like this but always have problems with the arm length .Most jackets are too short in the arms to fit him .Any details about the sleeves would be a great help.TKS.

I gave my son a Tough Duck Hydro Parka as a gift. He really enjoys wearing the coat. He is 6ft 1 inch tall and the jacket fits him just right. There is an inner cuff to keep arms warm so I will have to recommend that you look for this in the Big and Tall section of Penneys as it is available in tall sizes. I forgot to mention that many of his friends have asked where to buy the coat. Usually guys don't ask this question, so I know that they must consider it a winner. I know that my son appreciates the warmth ,comfort and good looks of the jacket. He lives in rainy Portland, Oregon
