The mounting hardware is a brushed nickel "L" bracket with a circle at the front (room side) for the pole to slide through. The "L" attaches to your wall. There is a maximum return of 3". This means your drapery "ends" can be a maximum of 3-3 1/2". This is ok if you don't have any other "outside mounted" products under your drapery (like blinds or verticals). If your other product is "'inside mounted" (inside the trim or window frame), you should be ok. We had to re-engineer the brackets to be able to install an 8" return side drapery.
