I want to use this rod for a patio drape (i.e. it's one big panel). Can these rods be used for this type of drape, or is there a center mounting bracket that would be in the way of the rings' sliding? Will it sag with the weight?
This is a heavy duty rod that holds my drapes with no sag. There is a center support. Mine is very long. Like 100-120 inches. They seem to be a sturdy heavier rod with a nice insert for lengthening. You probably could use it without the support depending on the length. Frankly, I'd use the support and lengthen the rod past the edges, where you could push them to both sides of the patio door, letting them frame the door. I mounted mine past the window edges so I get more of the window opening showing. My drapes and sheers slide easily on the rods so moving the curtains is very easy. Just an easy pull.
If you have the room, I'd hang them a little high over the door so that you could utilize the support. If your drapes are not the really heavy ones, you should be okay.
