Rated 5 out of 5 by from Drapes Do The Job I bought these drapes because our dinning room gets terribly hot in the summer. I thought we would need six panels, my husband thought four would be enough, when he put them up he realized I had been right. I rushed to the computer right away in hopes that I would be able to get the last two that we needed. I was amazed I could still get them and bought them right away. My husband wasn't too crazy about them at first, but now he loves them. They keep the heat out, are very easy to operate and cut down on the noise level quite a bit since we have ceramic floors. We have always had venition blinds and I asked him if he wanted to take them down when he put the panels up. I said he probably would never use the blinds again. He swore he would. Well guess who now says the blinds need to come down? Thanks, J.C. Penneys for the panels that were so desperately needed. I wish they had been a bit cheaper because I needed the 95" length and you can't get them (and especially the thermal ones) just anywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and rich looking, but not light-blocking Unless a drapery is interlined with a truly opaque fabric, lighter colors will not really block the sun. But the cream color was what I wanted for an upstairs bedroom. I imagine that darker shades will naturally block more light. With that said--the look is very rich, and the grommet tops plus new rods gave my mission-style bedroom a much needed update. They look like much more than what I paid, and I'm proud to say that I did the installation myself with no problems. I did the math to figure out how many panels to buy to cover the window, but found that with grommet tops, there is less fullness than with a shirred drapery. You may need more panels to achieve the look you want. Grommet tops can be styled more loosely or more densely on the rod, and it's a matter of personal preference. Now, for anyone who complained about wrinkles...the secret to ironing these is to do it twice and use lots of steam. Press the lining side first, working from the top DOWN. Then do the same on the fabric (room) side. Hang them immediately. Buy these. You won't regret it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These curtains are thick and have a blackout backing. Excellent curtains. Thick and the fabric looks very natural like linen. Love them and they just so happened to match my room decor perfectly. I will be buying all of my curtains from JC Penny in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Jenner Cotton Grommet-Top Thermal Curtain The Jenner Thermal curtains are very nice and I believe that they would make a difference in the temperature of a room, which I really cared about, but I did not keep them. I have lots of glass to cover. I ordered 20 panels and only opened one of those. Before ordering, I read the description which sounded to me like they had TWO separate linings. They do not. It is one lining with a rubber-like backing. They were very creased and wrinkled and I just felt like they were too stiff for my taste. Also the fabric is very plain without much texture. I exchanged the panels for the softer, more textured Quinn style, even though it is rated as "energy efficient" rather than thermal. Unfortunately I now find out that the Quinn is on back order, so I have to wait till about the middle of Feb. for my curtains. If you want a quality thermal curtain in a very simple style, I think the Jenner would be great for you. They just weren't what I had in mind.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Product was not sage green but rather grayer For the first time in over 25 years of ordering from JCP, I am disappointed with the color (indicated sage green but was grayer) and the fabric was tentlike material. I returned these and ordered different draperies. I am awaiting the new order.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from they'll do As long as you're not looking for draperies that look expensive these are alright. The fabric is nice, the color (cream) is great but the hemline is anything but straight. its not absurdly obvious and if you don't point it out nobody will see it. they are definitely for a casual look. After ironing them i had to use clothespins to pleat the fabric so it would hang properly. after a couple hrs they hung as i wanted. I would also recommend getting an extra pair of panels as they do not hang "full" at all. these draperies are fine as long as you know what you're getting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but not blackout curtains I bought the navy blue curtains. They definitely are not blackout curtains, but they do block some light. As other reviews noted, I would recommend buying multiple panels if you want them to block more light. The construction of the curtains has a white liner on the inside and then the navy blue lighter fabric on the outside. The liner is not attached to the blue part of the curtains at the bottom, which is a little weird, and if you have a fan going the outer fabric will blow everywhere, since it's not attached to the heavier fabric at the bottom.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Inconsistent quality I needed 18 of these valances and had to order almost as many additional because of inconsistencies in the fabric and length. Some panels were off in length as much as 1/2 inch and when hung you could see the ups and downs in length! In addition 3 panels have evident fabric flaws. I am returning the panels that are short and those flawed. Only saving grace is that I was able to order additional panels each time that an order came in with the defective panels.

Blackout or light blocking?

Are the white colored ones room darkening or blackout? Suitable for an infant trying to sleep during the day?
Asked by: dani4man
I purchased the white curtains for that reason and they're rather sheer. Not suitable for an infant trying to sleep during the day.

Would these curtains in white be adequately light blocking for an east facing room if there are 2" white wooden blinds behind them?
