Rated 5 out of 5 by Love These Curtains We recently moved to Texas and are renting while we build our new home. We purchased these drapes as an affordable option as installing custom drapes in a rental would be very costly. For our kitchen seating area, our window is 66 inches wide, We used four panels 37.5 by 108 so each panel would have a fuller look. Our seating area is still a work in progress as we are waiting on our rug, console table, lamps, etc but we love the way our curtains look. You will need to steam these curtains to get the creases/ wrinkles out from packaging. We used our panasonic steam iron on medium setting and it worked perfectly. Overall, this is a beautiful and affordable option to custom drapes. Side Note- We purchased the cream drapes.Yes, these curtains are lined but they do not completely block out sunlight. Rated 1 out of 5 by Quality not worthy of Penneys Name Bought these to replace JCPenney drapes purchased 15 years go. These are NOT of the same quality at all!! I am so incredibly disappointed in Penneys - I've ordered from the catalog, and now online, for over 30 years and have never been this disgusted. The pleated portion at the top is so 'papery' it actually crunches when bent. When I try to open the drapes, they bunch up horribly at the top, and although they meet in the center, I have to pull the two sections closed in the middle - as if they're not sewn on the fabric's grain? They ARE hanging a bit better than last night (when I left my first review which was mysteriously denied, I just found out). I attached two photos. I guess I'll start saving for custom drapes that I'll order elsewhere. Sorry, Penneys. You've let me down big time. Buyer beware - you get what you pay for. August 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lovely curtains I bought one panel to cover my bathroom window (62.5" wide to cover a 50" wide window, and it is a perfect fit). I just push it to one side when I want it open. I previously had a semi-shear which I really liked as far as style but it was impractical because it did not give enough privacy at night. These curtains are very high quality in construction, fabric, and style. I love the back tabs and pleats. I added the wand from my semi-shears to keep them clean. Now i just pull it across (glides so nicely thanks to back tabs), and the curtain is automatically adjusted for fullness because of the sewn-in pleats. The previous curtains had back tabs but no pleats, so I always had to adjust in the fullness. This is such a nicer look than just a rod pocket curtain. And now I have lots of privacy! Rated 1 out of 5 by Very disappointed I should have paid more attention to the reviews that said the wrinkles in these curtains don't hang out very well. Not only are they badly wrinkled, but they don't hang evenly. Instead of hanging straight, they hang in waves and flair out at the bottom. When I pull them closed, they bunch at the end rather than pulling out evenly. I am very disappointed in the way they look even after hanging for two months. May 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy with Drapery Purchase Ready made pinch pleat drapes are hard to find. Happy with the drapes. Definitely NOT the quality of past JC Penney pinch pleat drapes I purchased 20 years ago. Other vendors offer pinch pleat drapes that cost 4 times the price. Buy the better quality drapery hooks with sharp points not the ones with blunt ends when hanging the drapes. I also purchased heavy duty curtain rods. (different vendor) I didn't iron before hanging (hate ironing). I did consider having them professionally blocked, but I will do that later. Very happy with the results. Picture is just after hanging. The wrinkles from packaging mostly came out after hanging for two weeks. are they perfect? No. Satisfied with the results? YES. November 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Better than expected I have never purchased draperies before but after getting 2 estimates for blinds, I considered draperies. The blinds was not in my budget right now. I am very pleased with how these curtains turned out. I did have to alter the length of 2 of the 4 I purchased but I knew that after taking the measurements. For the rods, Annie at the JC Penney Plaza Bonita location was very knowledgeable! March 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love my Royal Velvet pinch pleated drapes. They will provide warmth in the winter and keep the bedroom cool in the summer. I love the elegant appearance the pinch pleated drapes gave to my bedroom! September 2, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Thin drapery I have very a very wide window so finding drapes is difficult . These Are the only ones I could find in the color I needed. One panel is longer then the other by about 1 inch. They are very thin material so not a true thermal energy efficient drape as stated. I am disappointed in the declining quality of j c Penney's merchandise . September 19, 2016

The panel size fits my window, but I wanted a thermal lined drape. However, thermal lined drape does not come in the proper size.

Answer:
Yes with the exception of probably bottom 2". Unless you are covering a slider. The blackouts I believe are rubber backing and the other is more of a fabric and does stop the sun just not entirely blackout depending on the color that you are ordering. I thought I wanted blackout but really was glad I got the ivory that darkens the room only.

Answer:
Yes, it is fully lined from top to bottom. If you are looking for a drape to block the light this does a very good job. Every window in my house has the brand of drape. The thermal lined block the light completely. Very good quality and choices in colors.

Answer:
Yes it is fully lined. Lining is not exceptionally thick but not cheaply thin either. The drape is a nice weight and together they will insulate a window I believe, although not as in "thermal". I would have preferred a thermally lined drape also but not unhappy with this alternative :)

I used single 1 point hooks. I had no wish to change the traverse rod I had. The 3 prong hooks did not work. The single prong did not go in easily I had to work at it til finally just pushed them up into pleat on back of panels. They hung fine and even.

Answer:
I bought them online in Walnut color and they are goresous - even my husband complimented me on choosing something so beautiful. No hooks are needed to hang these curtains because they have loops on the back to slide directly onto a rod. I hung 4 pair. Three were hung on traverse rods with pins and 1 on a rod without pins. If you want to use pins, like the old pinch pleats JCPenney has a set of pins that'll work called

You need the hooks that have a sharp point to them. They are easy to insert into the pleat. There is a place at bottom of pleat where you can insert the hook. Took a few tries but I finally figured out what to do.

Answer:
You don't need any hooks or clips. The "back-tab" refers to a loop on the back side of each "pleat" and all you have to do is push a round drapery rod(I'm using 5/8"") through each one and hang up the rod. Easy!! PS you could put a drapery pin through each pleat(on back side) and hang that way on rod with cords for opening /closing but really they hang gracefully using the "loop" and slide very easily on round rod when you manually pull to close or push to open. And these round rods are no doubt cheaper.

Answer:
Yes the curtains are room darkening; and it was noticeable immediately upon installation. I use them with holdbacks (Bali Crafted Shell in Nickel - the finials match my rods). I don't know if the color of the curtain enhances the darkening or if it's just that they are room darkening but Walnut is a beautiful color. I hope you'll like them as much as I do.

Answer:
I bought the ivory color. They are not room darkening. The lining is thin. I'm using blackout fabric with these curtains because we live in the northwest where the sun comes up at 4:30 in the summer. Perhaps your darker color will block more light, but the drapery fabric is on the thinner side (imo) so I'm unsure as to how much light would actually get blocked. Great thing about Penney's is that you can return them, so best of luck with your choice.

I also ordered the walnut color drapes. I would consider them room darkening drapes. When they are closed you can not see outside or do you see the lights of passing cars. The other positive thing is that if you are outside you do not see any lights shining through (I have 2 - 100 watt lamps in my living room plus multiple lights in other rooms).

They are room darkening, and it doesn't appear as though the color matters, we bought two different colors to match our sheets, and they both darken the same. They don't make it a complete black out, however it does get pretty dark. Enough to sleep during the day anyway.

Yes, they DO darken the room quite a bit if you have them completely closed. I ordered mine twice the size of the double window, and that helps with the darkening effect. I got the soft gold, but I think walnut wood be about the same as far as how much light gets in.

I loved the linen color--it was like a champagne color. Not too gold, not too beige. The fabric has a very light sheen but also a linen-type texture to it. Right in the middle of casual and dressy.

Answer:
Walnut will complement lots of different colors like Gold, Linen, Ivory, Teal or Lemon, Lime, Orange and possibly Baby Blue.... So if you're re-decorating you may start with the draperies and go from there. It'll open up avenues you never considered because of its beauty. Remember that these are room-darkening panels. I don't think Walnut is dark when decorated properly.

Answer:
I bought the walnut color draperies, the color is not terribly dark. It looks very much like the 'linen" color of other brands. I've attached a photo - my walls are ivory, the drapery rod is dark walnut, the clock on the left is burl walnut.
I hope this helps. (I have not yet steamed the wrinkles from the draperies.)

Answer:
I would go with the walnut. Its not very dark, more of a medium brown. Its quite attractive. The quality is very nice..
