Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional! I first purchased these shade when I bought my home, in 2005. I bought them for all 3 bedrooms. I have since purchased for my basement windows, den and an addition and my daughter's apartment. The fabric is a bit lighter weight from the ones I purchased 12 years ago, but still very nice. I still have the original shades, they are still bright as the day I bought them, still functional. They are easy to clean, just run a vacuum over them. I have told everyone about these shades. For the price and quality you can't beat them. I also have the pleated cordless blinds from JCPenney that I purchased for my family room in 2005. Still wonderful, functioning perfectly. The only thing I wish they had more colors to choose from. I strongly recommend these shades JCPenney has exceptional value in window treatments.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheap Looking Blinds It seems every couple of years Savannah roman shades change a little; unfortunately the change is for the worst. I'm on my 3rd home with JCP's Savannah shades in White. When I first started buying them for my first house, about 15 years ago, the fabric was more like a thick cotton canvas and the top valance was 10" high as well as each panel was 10 - 12" . When raised each panel evenly folded under neatly and had clean lines tucked away under the valance. They really looked med-hi end. I always got compliments on them. For my second home the Savannah shade's fabric was changed to polyester (as it still is) and was thinner; also, the valance got smaller at about 8". Now at my 3rd home the polyester is so thin one can almost see headlights thru it. The valance is now about 5" high and the shade does not pull up neatly nor does it tuck under the chintzy little valance. These shades look like they are from a lower end department store. Attached are outside mount photos showing the difference between today's Savannah blinds (2017) compared to 2012 Savannah blinds. (Underneath the Savannah shades are black out roller blinds) The 2017 Savannahs look especially awful when pulled up. Both the blinds are pulled all the way down and in the second photo all the way up. Look at the difference; just terrible! These blinds are fine for someone's first home but certainly not a med to higher end home. I will not be buying these cheap looking blinds for my next home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Roman shades beautiful I love my new roman shades I put them up myself in less then 30 minutes not bad for a 63 year old housewife. They are so pretty and fit perfectly. You can see light through them but can't really see through them. They are in my dining room at the front of the house and look great inside and out! Company over the holidays were all impressed with the quality and look of them. I am thinking of replacing my old blinds in my bedroom with these. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a nice window treatment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic These shades are great. They are true to size, look lovely, and my husband put both of them up in about 20 minutes. They come with everything you need to mount them. I also personally like that they aren't heavy and let a little light in, yet block out most of it. The only small complaint I have is about the mounting instructions. They are terrible. Just google it - you will have better luck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought these for the kitchen/ dining room and also for my bathroom.. They look very nice on the Windows. Not too girlie or manly, just a nice addition to compliment our rooms. I would definitely recommend these shades as they were easy to set up and looks great in rooms. You couldn't pass up on the sale price either!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from overall i like it I bought 4 of these for our home and only one of them is difficult to lock the cord when pulling up the shade... they were shipped timely however, one of them was poorly shipped.. it didn't have all of the brackets that we needed and it had cat hair on the shade. I had to return one of them to get a new one for the bracket reason. Other than that we like them! They block out just enough sun so that's it's not too bright in the room and is well insulated to block out draft.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality window shades! The sale made these window shades affordable compared to other places I looked. The size fit my windows well, but the hardware was a bit difficult to use. We had to get other brackets from hardware store, but our home was built in 1970s. Also it was a tight fit since I use valance as window toppings to dress up the shades. The material feels like great quality, and I love the neutral pebble grey color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product that wont break your wallet! These curtains are very easy to install, although I did find they only work mounted one way. It gives you 2 options for how to mount the bar. The normal way you think they would go by holding them up to the window, and then you can turn the bar and use the mounts on the opposite side. Chose the second way so they open and close without any problems. Once I switched them, they work perfect.

Does this product come with all necessary hardware for outside mounting? I won't need to buy anything else?

Asked by: peanutbutter
Came with all hardware needed for outside mounting. Drill a pilot hole first, makes mounting much easier.

Ease in raising and lowering

It's mentioned that there is difficulty in raising and lowering these shades. Since all 4 of my windows will need this function daily I am concerned about the ease in doing so... does the cord operate smoothly and quickly?
Asked by: dawgmom
We've had ours for over a year and have had no issues at all with raising or lowering them, and we open them every day!

Can you shorten these blinds?

Asked by: Heather
Short answer Yes and No. I'm in my 3rd house with these blinds. When I first started to use these they allowed for the bottom (last) panel to be easily cut off. By the time I got to my 2nd house they had changed the fabric and the way they were sewn together where you can not easily just cut off the bottom panel. Unless JCP has changed these in the past few years, you can only shorten these by sewing. My sewing skills are good but not excellent. I would have to have my mother shorten these since she is excellent at sewing. Mine are 2" too long. Photos shows: They easily just roll under when they are down in case I have company; otherwise, I just leave them hanging too long.

Can these be cleaned other than "dusting" as they will be near a kitchen and can collect grease over time.

Asked by: mabear
You could use a damp cloth and they would probably be fine... I might ScotchGard them if they are near a kitchen.
