Rated 1 out of 5 by Junk I bought 5 of these in Microchip gray and 4 of them in Linen. The 4 linen ones were perfect. Met expectations. The microchip gray...did not. I got them and 4 out of the 5 had the "pin holes" in them. I took them back to JCpenny and they were nice and ordered 4 new ones. I got the new ones yesterday and 3 our of the 4 had pin holes and the 4th was completely different material. As in the gray is more "blackout" but this 4th one you could see the light pass thru it no problem. Like I understand you get what you pay for. But this is ridiculous. So now I'm in a dilemma. Do I just return them all, or try for a 3rd round in not getting blinds with holes in the. I guess that's to much to ask for. See photos. March 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by A perfect solution After shopping around for suitable shades for my office/guest bedroom, I returned to JCPenny.com. They seem to be the only retailer that offers great quality window shades at very reasonable rates. Save yourself the aggravation of shopping around and just buy these! December 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for my room These Roman shades fit the bill for all my criteria: I wanted something lighter than what I had on my 3 family room windows, I wanted them lined, and cordless. I ordered 3 of these in 39x64 and the installation was fairly easy (due to the fact I hung them on a wood cased window and did not have to bother with drywall anchors). Now, with my window coverings lighter, the room feels bigger. They draw up very well to open, and really add beauty to my family room. March 7, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love them, except the holes! I purchased two of these in gray when redecorating my Daughter's room. She was at camp and it was a surprise. They were easy to hang, and I love everything about them- except all the tiny holes that run the length of the shades, which are stitch marks from the way they are made. They let light come thru, more than I anticipated and I was disappointed. If it wasn't for us needing to show the redone room to her when she came back I probably would've taken them back to the store and ask them to try new ones. I just didn't have time to mess with it. But otherwise they look good and function great (so much better than our previous JCpenney Roman shades that have cords and whose liners tear over time/cords on backsides tear.) I had seven of the older style and can't wait to slowly convert them all to the cordless style. I wish there were NO HOLES- then these would be perfect. Even the kids can operate these which is great (3, 6, and 8) I've had them up for 9 months with no issues February 18, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great light blocking! This item came exactly as described. Easy to put up and lowers and lifts easily. Great light blocking. One thing I'd change if I could is the length. This is the second set of roman shades I've gotten at Penny's and I would really like them more if they came in different lengths. My windows are only 45" long so there is a lot left at the bottom when they are pulled down. It works, but would be nicer if the didn't bunch at bottom. May 19, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by pinholes and junky They came with little pin holes that you can see light shining through. junky. May 1, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The shades look amazing! I love these shades! They were very easy to install after figuring out how to pop them into the top. They look very nice in my bedroom and love how easy they are to roll up. Jcpenney was great about sending me a smaller size when I ordered the wrong one. Overall very impressed with the roman shades. Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful and adjustable to any length I have always loved the look and versatility of the Roman Shades. I was so happy to see that J C Penney's had the cordless version on sale. I have gotten all of my favorite window treatments from Penney's. I used to be able to purchase them in the store, that way I had a chance to look at the colors and styles that I was interested in; now however that it not the case: you can only purchase them online. I was reluctant to buy window treatments sight unseen, but with the special 1/2 price offers I felt it was worth a shot. I have been very pleased and delighted with all of my products and deliveries. All of my orders have arrived within a few days. It is so convenient that I will continue to purchase my items this way,as I have been doing so for about 3 years now. Thank You for your quality products and excellent service!! March 3, 2016

Answer:
Possible on mine, but I have plain window frames. The shade has a "cartridge" into which it retracts, and this adds about an inch to two inches in protrusion from the actual mounting surface. That's part of the reason it didn't work on my windows, because I had a gap between the frame and the back of the shade, leaving far too much room for air penetration.

Answer:
Yes- the brackets can mount on the outside of the window. They screw into the top of the window frame (the horizontal part) and the shade snaps in- the brackets hold the back part of the shade in place, not the sides, so you don't even seen the bracket.

We mounted ours on a single patio door. Thewindow is 23 inches wide with a 1 inch surround. I bought a 27 inch shade and mounted it outside the surround, worked great!

Answer:
The shade can be mounted either inside or outside of the window frame. When you receive the shades, there will be an easy step by step guide on how to mount them properly. I hope this helps!

Answer:
Don't see why you can't hang 33" on the inside. One inch smaller than the actual width worked for me.

Answer:
Yes - the shades attach at the back of the shade, so they don't need to fit perfectly (our windows weren't the perfect size either, so there was just a little bit of room on either side of the shade)

Answer:
I found the exact measurement to work well. The 35 inch will leave a half inch gap on each side. Be sure to measure at the top where they will be mounted.

I ordered the exact width and they were too big. The ones one inch smaller were perfect for inside mount.

You should be fine with the 36" width. If you don't mind a little light around the sides, you can opt for the 35". I hope this helps!

I have no idea how many cords are present, but I would guess you could not conveniently trim the shades or I might have tried..

Answer:
well I looked at the back and I see a ribbon with one main string embedded in it. I do not think I would "trim" anything fearing the whole set-up would fall apart. The shade is so simply made and easy to hang and use. It is longer than my window too but since it is usually in a raised position it is a non issue for me. I have another set of roman shades with strings...I like this "no strings" version better and I have no young kids.

Answer:
There are 2 support strings. I think it would be tricky to try and trim them or the shades, as you'd likely ruin them.
