Rated 5 out of 5 by A perfect solution After shopping around for suitable shades for my office/guest bedroom, I returned to JCPenny.com. They seem to be the only retailer that offers great quality window shades at very reasonable rates. Save yourself the aggravation of shopping around and just buy these! December 2, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 Great but had a few holes 2 out of the 3 shades i ordered had little hokes in them. If not for that this product would be great February 10, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Piece of junk Hanging hardware is cheap plastic, which broke the first time I tried to pull the shade down. Please spare yourself the aggravation of purchasing this product and having to return it when it breaks. Don't believe the description that claims the hanging hardware is metal. IT IS NOT!! February 3, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by great product ! Love the easy operation ! No cords to get in the way , tangle or wear out. will think about replacing other blinds with these in the future February 3, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Exactly as expected These are really great, especially for the price. They are light filtering (not blackout) but that was expected based on description. They open and close easily without strings. They were easy to install. January 26, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Looks like a custom shade! Although I needed 31.5 inches in width, I was forced to order 31 inches. It still works and looks intentional, with only a little sunlight sneaking through the sides. My house was recently remodeled and my contractor was fooled by these shades! He thought they were custom made and expensive! I have the dark gray against a white window casing. I love them and I'm particular! January 16, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by All 4 curtains had hole in them Ordered a pair of these curtains in the microchip grey color. Both had small holes in the fabric of the curtain which were clearly visible when held up to the light. Called customer service and promptly received 2 more, and again, both had small holes. The holes all line up vertically on the curtain, so I'm wondering if it is a mechanical issue when they are being made and I'm not sure why this wasn't caught at the factory. Now I've had to go out of my way twice to return these to the store (about 45 minutes from my home). I've ordered other curtains from JC Penney in the past and had no problem, so I am very disappointed in this experience! December 17, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by My bad I had hoped to use these on a sun porch where winter temperatures have become an issue. The shades were exactly what I wanted - cordless, easy to use, and incredibly priced with the Black Friday deals. Unfortunately, I was unable, after multiple attempts (including some sloppy measuring), to find a shade the correct width for the windows on my porch. The narrowest was three inches too small and the next size an inch too wide. Custom-made was far more than I wished to spend. So, although there really was nothing wrong with these shades I returned them and went with a different window treatment. December 16, 2015

Answer:
Possible on mine, but I have plain window frames. The shade has a "cartridge" into which it retracts, and this adds about an inch to two inches in protrusion from the actual mounting surface. That's part of the reason it didn't work on my windows, because I had a gap between the frame and the back of the shade, leaving far too much room for air penetration.

Answer:
Yes- the brackets can mount on the outside of the window. They screw into the top of the window frame (the horizontal part) and the shade snaps in- the brackets hold the back part of the shade in place, not the sides, so you don't even seen the bracket.

We mounted ours on a single patio door. Thewindow is 23 inches wide with a 1 inch surround. I bought a 27 inch shade and mounted it outside the surround, worked great!

Answer:
The shade can be mounted either inside or outside of the window frame. When you receive the shades, there will be an easy step by step guide on how to mount them properly. I hope this helps!

Don't see why you can't hang 33" on the inside. One inch smaller than the actual width worked for me.

Answer:
Yes - the shades attach at the back of the shade, so they don't need to fit perfectly (our windows weren't the perfect size either, so there was just a little bit of room on either side of the shade)

Answer:
I found the exact measurement to work well. The 35 inch will leave a half inch gap on each side. Be sure to measure at the top where they will be mounted.

Answer:
I ordered the exact width and they were too big. The ones one inch smaller were perfect for inside mount.

Answer:
You should be fine with the 36" width. If you don't mind a little light around the sides, you can opt for the 35". I hope this helps!

I have no idea how many cords are present, but I would guess you could not conveniently trim the shades or I might have tried..

Answer:
well I looked at the back and I see a ribbon with one main string embedded in it. I do not think I would "trim" anything fearing the whole set-up would fall apart. The shade is so simply made and easy to hang and use. It is longer than my window too but since it is usually in a raised position it is a non issue for me. I have another set of roman shades with strings...I like this "no strings" version better and I have no young kids.

Answer:
There are 2 support strings. I think it would be tricky to try and trim them or the shades, as you'd likely ruin them.
