Have used these shades in my last 3 homes. The option of rolling the top down, letting in light, but retaining privacy, was a primary reason, but they also look very high-end in quality, and they have lasted years.
Most recently, I purchased a house built in 1930 which had single-pane windows. I replaced them all with triple-pane, energy-efficient vinyl windows (with many other features), but as a result, the smallest windows were just shy of the 23" width needed for the narrowest of these shades. What I learned was that I could remove the caps on the header and footer of the shades, so that they would just barely fit, but I made sure to retain the weights embedded in the footer of the shade, taping those open ends shut, if necessary. From the outside, the windows all look uniform. From the inside, they are beautiful, and I can adjust them to let the sun shine on the plants nearby.
Recently, I splashed food liquid on the shade nearest the kitchen sink. To clean it, I simply extended it to its full length, laid the end over the edge of the kitchen counter to keep it open, then used a damp sponge to wipe off the liquid. It came clean, I let it dry, and it was a good as new.
The only issue I have discovered is that some of the shades do not roll down horizontally level, but this can be remedied by pulling down the end that is above level, and adjusting until both sides are level.

I have replaced all the blinds in my home in the past couple years, purchasing the cell shades for the house and for the closed in porches, the pleated blinds because the cells did not come in the width for those windows. They are all cordless. You can't beat the price for Penney's blinds. And they have sales all the time so that lowers the price even more. The blinds look custom when they are up. Have had no issues with them not working properly. I only got the tdbu for the bathroom window and a window in my office where I work for my employer. If I could go back in time, I would get the tdbu for ALL the windows. So wonderful to have your privacy and still let light in. I live in my town, not on the outskirts, so privacy can be an issue. Love love love the hardware for installing these. So much easier than the many pieces needed for my old vinyl blinds. Then the blind just snaps in or out when I need to take them out to clean the window. They are lightweight to handle also.

I bought thirteen of these shades in December 2013. They arrived in perfect condition and in a timely manner. Installation was not too difficult; just a little tricky snapping them into the mounted bracket, as another reviewer described. I love these shades! The ability to open or close from the top or the bottom is wonderful. I can arrange just the balance between light and privacy that I desire. When fully open, they take up minimal space and don't block my windows, which is important to me. Now, I have to admit, they are not the same quality of construction that you might find in some really expensive shades, but mine are two years old and work and look like brand new. Two of my original thirteen failed within a few months, but JCP cheerfully ordered replacements for them at no cost. These shades are on sale often, and with an available coupon the price is excellent. I can recommend them with confidence, so much so that my daughter is planning to buy them for her new house, too!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Katya One shade broke and another is now wonky after 2 1/2 years of no problem
This week one of my JCP top-down cordless shades broke after 2 1/2 years. In addition, about two weeks ago another such shade got out of alignment and has remained so with several attempts of trying to bring it back into alignment. When it is up, the plastic bottom piece angles down to one side, resulting in the left end being about an inch lower than the other end. I had been quite pleased with the shades until the one broke and the other got out of alignment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by DYIpro Sorry JCP, but these blinds are junk
The rails are not straight....the blinds creek when they move up or down - like the cords are going to snap at any minute.....the movement also is jerky.....the plastic ends pushed into the sides of the rails have gaps and when I push them in, they pop back out.....it is nearly impossible to get the top or bottom to be level after moving them - after one time there is a gap on the left, another time a gap on the right.....another time I adjusted the top half way down and the bottom keeps moving up a bit and off the window sill - so I have to keep adjusting both ends......low,low quality and I will be taking all 16 back for a full refund. Totally disappointed. I feel like the sale was just a Marketing tactic to get you to think you were getting at least mid-level quality, but sadly - you are not.

These were exactly what I was looking for. I have a leather bed in front of my window and have never been able to open drapes or blinds because of fading and drying out of the leather. Now I can just pull the shades down from the top and have natural light into my room. They are also great for privacy, i can keep them open even in the evening. They are not blackout shades though for those who need them. I want to do the rest of my house now. Very easy to install as well. I was able to do them myself.
