Rated 1 out of 5 by from I don't like to write negative reviews, but........... I purchased the 5X8 size rug last fall after searching endlessly for the perfect rug for my new floor. Turns out I purchased the exact same rug I had just given away and should have kept the other. I have always been please with Penney's rugs and always choose washable ones. However, the backing on this one has crumbled excessively since the first wash and the latex residue left in my washer and dryer has ruined multiple other items. I have tried running the washer with no clothes afterward in order to rid my washer of those latex "beads" and even vacuumed out my dryer, but to no avail. Once the rug is out of the dryer those latex particles stick to every thing they come in contact with, including the clothes I am wearing at the time. The rug creates so much mess I wonder why I even bother to wash it, except for my grand children who play on it. I'm writing this review to warn others about this rug defect and hope that Penney's will investigate and correct the problem.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice rug, but not near as nice of quality as they used to be I purchased a near identical octagonal rug from the JCPENNEY Home Washable Collection approximately 9 years ago and it just finally wore out. I was pleased to see that they still made these rugs because the other one was of such excellent quality and durability. However this rug to my disappointment is not of the same quality. The other rug was made much thicker, heavier, and of better fibers, than the rug I received this time. The quality has obviously gone down over the years. Quality seems to be a thing of the past everywhere though, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I am still reasonably satisfied with it since I got it on sale, it works with my décor, and it's difficult to find reasonably priced Octagonal rugs. But for me, seeing the "before" quality, this one was a bit of a let down. I highly doubt I'll get as many years out of it as the other one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Area Rugs These are the best area rugs I've ever found. Over the last 20 years or so, we have had these rugs in all sizes from 8' x 10' down to wedges and runners, and in many colors as our decor changed over the years; mushroom, midnight blue, burgandy, ivory and sea green (I'm not sure what the "official" colors are), and each of them are wonderful. They are soft, plush, durable and versatile. They don't slip on our hardwood or tile, and the colors are vibrant and true. A few years ago, I had ordered 3 burgandy wedge rugs, and one was much more rose than burgandy, so I returned it, and the replacement was perfect. The only con to these are that the dark colors show lint, dust, and flecks easily, whereas the lighter colors show dark stains. Since they're washable, this really isn't an issue. Also, when washing them, it's best to use cold water and line dry them. I've found through experience, that the rubber backing will crumble quickly if repeatedly dried in the dryer, so cold washing and line drying helps the backing last longer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love Penneys Latex Back Rugs I've been buying JCPenney Latex Back rugs for literally decades. They last, they wash nicely, there are usually great colors to choose from, and they don't slip around the floor. The two downsides that made me rate them four stars instead of five are that they're expensive, and the colors you see online aren't what you get sometimes. I mean, online orders are filled correctly, but the color in "real life" is different than what is shown in photos on their site. It has happened to me more than once. I recently bought the Light Peridot (green) since I repainted my breakfast nook walls from golden honey to light green, and the photos online show the color a lot lighter than it actually is. The rugs still work, actually I love the "real life" color, but I was expecting lighter and was a little shocked when they showed up. Here are the rugs in a photo of the newly redecorated breakfast nook. It's so light and airy in there now that having the rugs a little darker than I expected is just fine (and really hides dirt from the dog's feet a lot better).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the same one I ordered before!!! Although everybody would like a great review, but in this case I cannot give one. I already have this rug, it looks the same as in the picture, but they changed the size and quality of the runner. I was not happy at all with the product. I have a galley kitchen, and the other one was the perfect size. It was actually 27" x 108". They changed the width and the quality of the one that I received. I guess this is how they want to save money, but I need the length and the width of the same product I already bought. The one I bought is exactly as the one in the picture, but the replacement is NOT!!! I ordered another rug, because when my husband, yes I did say husband ( he helps me as it is hard right now to use the vac) vacuumed the runner, and the side came apart!! This is why I am ordering another one. I one I have is a thick pile, and this new one is not the same. I do hope you get the original product back......

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is exactly what I've been searching for. My prayers have been answered--literally! After using a washable area rug for many years, it was beginning to disintegrate because I couldn't find a suitable replacement. After reading the reviews on the JCP web site about the Imperial WASHABLE octagonal rug, I knew I had found the rug of my dreams. Of course, reviews aren't always accurate. But, still, I held out hope knowing that JCP's products have always met my expectations. When I opened the box, there were the perfect rugs that I had been searching for over a period of many, many years. They are plush, vacuum beautifully, and haven't beaded up like so many other rugs have a tendency to do. I was so afraid they might be hard to come by later, I ordered duplicates of every size. As a bonus, my dog Tug now prefers the rug rather than the furniture!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I expected and wanted I purchased this in the "Claret" which is a deep red wine color and which is exactly the same burgundy red as in my several oriental rugs which I have placed nearby. This area rug was to go in front of a large coat closet (double French-style doors) and adjacent to one of the orientals. It looks beautiful. There was a center fold which lay out and disappeared completely in about 3 days, it has a rich pile and is simple but rather elegant looking. I like it so well that I decided to buy the same color in the next size up for a heavy-traffic area and where the dog likes to lie. Love this little rug.

How well do they wash, and how do they hold up?

We have 2 dogs and I anticipate needing to clean these. I am getting the 8x10 size, does that fit in a regular home washing machine? How did they hold up over time with repeated washings?
Asked by: Milo
The Imperial Rectangular Rug after repeated washings looked better and better after each washings. The Rug is very durable. Always remember NEVER PUT it IN THE DRYER. Dolly
