St. Patrick’s Day is almost here! Between finding new outfits to whipping up yummy St. Patrick’s Day recipes, there are tons of things to do. There’s no wrong way to celebrate this day, but if you’re not sure how to go about it, we are here to help. JCPenney has gathered all the St. Patrick’s Day essentials you’ll need to have a March 17 that’s filled with fun for the entire family.
Choose Between Shamrock and Master Yoda
Dressing up in cheerful attire is most important for St. Patrick’s Day. Choose holiday-inspired outfits for yourself and your family. How about this Shamrock bodysuit set for your baby or this Yoda T-shirt for your little girl? Likewise, for adults too we’ve got adorable clothing that you’ll love. All the garments are crafted with utmost love, using soft fabric that will keep you cool and comfortable.
Have a Costume Contest
You will obviously be wearing green, but why not take it to the next level? Get the kids into a friendly costume contest wherein they are making leprechaun hats, shamrock paper flowers, or even celebratory cards. You can organize a similar contest for the grownups as well. Everybody gets a green beads chain and the winner walks away with an adorable gnome. This contest is a great way to ensure everyone in the family gets involved and makes plenty of fun-filled memories.
Add a Touch of Luck Around the House
St. Patrick’s Day gets extra cheerful when the whole family gets together to add festive decorations around the house. You can start with a leprechaun yard art stick or an inflatable leprechaun in the backyard, followed by a shamrock wreath. Around the house, decorate with DIY crafts, throw pillows, wall signs, and garlands.

Attend the Parade
Everyone will instantly get in the St. Paddy’s Day spirit by attending a festive St. Patrick’s Day parade. Slip into your best costume and add some sparkle to your look with a tall leprechaun hat, hoop earrings, and shimmering boots. When watching the parade, don’t miss out on the Irish step dancers as they glide, leap, and jump in merriment. You can even carry a DIY pot of gold, wear green glasses, or wave ‘Erin go Bragh’ flags (the Gaelic phrase translates to “Ireland Forever” in English).
Catch the Luck of the Irish with A Festive Family Brunch
After the parade, gather your family and friends for a festive brunch at home. Wear this beautiful shamrock apron and prepare some delicious treats like a loaf of traditional Irish soda bread, corned beef and cabbage, green cupcakes, shamrock cookies, and so on. And since it’s St. Patrick’s Day, serve green cocktails and Guinness, of course. For kids, you can serve a shamrock milkshake, mint chocolate chip smoothie, or lime sherbet float.
