You’re not alone. We promise. Everyone at home right now is coming to terms with their outer beauty. Yep. Hair, nails, skin. All is getting a bit neglected due to salons closed down. With appointments canceled and no confirmed reschedule dates, it may just be time to tackle some beauty tricks on your own. Maybe now’s the time to branch out and try some new products that’ll keep you from looking as tired as you may feel.
A Flair for Hair
Roots or gray showing? Ends are split? Long overdue for a trim? Thinking of taking matters into your own hands? First, take a deep breath and really consider the consequences. Have you colored your hair before? If not, maybe hold off. Try some products to help increase the longevity of your color, like some color protection shampoo and conditioner. Spritz on some dry shampoo to help freshen up your hair for those on-camera virtual meetings. And, there’s even root touchup spray to give you temporary coverage. Or, just use this extra time to try out some new hairstyles. Adding in some hair accessories can help detract from the actual cut and color of your hair. Pulling your hair back in a ponytail or top knot always looks carefree and stylish. Hair ties or scrunchies can add a little glam. Try out headbands to conceal the inching natural roots showing.
And, men, you could use this time to grow our your facial hair. Many men are experimenting with a beard. Use some grooming products specially for beards to tame the mane. And, if you trust yourself or a household member to give your hair a trim, make sure you have the proper tools—razors, trimmers and replacement blades.

Face the Day
Even if you can’t minimize the stress going on around us, you can at least lessen the effects on your skin. Just because you’re home more and maybe not wearing as much makeup doesn’t mean you can neglect your skincare regime. Continue to clean and moisture. Perhaps take it a step further and pamper your skin. This could be a good time to try out face masks. Equip yourself with some new cleansing tools to start anew. And, since we’re all attempting to invest daily time outdoors in the backyard for fresh air, don’t forget the sunscreen. Vitamin D from the sun is great for your well-being, but a sunburn is not something you want.
Nailed It
Just because you can’t make a quick trip to the nail salon for manis and pedis doesn’t mean your nails should suffer. Give yourself the spa day package at home with nail care to keep your cuticles cut and your polish perfection. With all the extra hand washing, moisturizing is becoming even more important. Go brave and experiment with that bold nail color you’ve secretly wished to wear, but were never sure how it would look. Glitter-infused polishes are a sure-fire way to brighten your look and your day. If you have kids at home, they’ll enjoy getting to share in this nail-painting activity with you.
