Taking Baby Steps
Getting everyone to adopt a healthy routine can be tough. The key here is to take baby steps. To stay healthy is a journey, and there is no rule you should do it all at once. An easy way is to keep track of each family member’s daily activities for one week. You can figure out what time works the best to get your family together for physical activity. There are plenty of activewear options that fit the activity. Women can grab leggings or jackets if they plan on an early morning run and men go for shorts and sweatshirts. Kids have numerous on-trend styles too. Girls can start their day with shorts and a tee, while boys can hit the court in pants and a tank top.
Pick After-School Activities
Now that the weather is just about nice, it’s the perfect time to get your family to indulge in outdoorsy activities (instead of a walk or run for the umpteenth time) to keep things breezy. Arm your kids with toy blasters, water toys, and pool floats. Join them for a game of ball toss or grab those nerf guns, build teams and enjoy an action-packed game right in your backyard. Build their hand-eye coordination with ax throwing game set or go for can slam. It’s the perfect outdoor game, easy to set up, and fun to play.
Healthy Eating Habits
Healthy eating doesn’t always mean diet and boring salads to start with. Adapt delicious food ideas and opt for homemade sauces, plenty of vegetables, low-fat ingredients, and swap with low-calorie snacking habits. It’s making sure your family eats right. For instance, pick a blender to whip up some yummy smoothies. Or, an air fryer would do just fine to eliminate the need for oil and eating healthier a lot easier.
And as promised, here is the recipe for creamy chicken and mushroom served over whole-wheat egg noodles or mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
5-ounce chicken cutlets
½ cup dry white wine
½ cup cream
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
Step 1: Place the chicken in a skillet and sprinkle it with ¼ teaspoon of each kosher salt and pepper. Add a tablespoon of canola oil and cook the chicken on medium heat. Turn the chicken until browned and cooked through 7 to 10 minutes total.
Step 2: Take a pan and add a tablespoon of oil and mushrooms. Stir them occasionally until the liquid is evaporated for about 4 minutes. Increase the heat to high, add wine and cook it again for the next 4 minutes. Reduce the heat to medium; stir in cream and any leftover juice from chicken along with ¼ tablespoon of salt and pepper each. Finally, add the chicken into the pan and coat it with sauce. Serve the chicken topped with sauce and sprinkled with parsley.
