Ho-ho-humdrum. Is this the tune you’ve been singing since realizing that this will be yet another holiday to stay at home? Well, you can still make it fa-la-la-la fabulously fun by instituting a few new traditions into your holiday lineup. Try some of these options to get your holiday spirit churning with JCPenney.
Karaoke Carols
“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!” Or, so “Elf” says. Test out this mantra by opening up your vocal cords and belting out some classic holiday carols. Not quite ready to stroll the neighborhood serenading all? Practice first safely at home with a night full of karaoke equipment. Get the whole family involved with a microphone, projector with lights and costumes, of course.
Game On!
Everyone in the family deserves a night of fun and games. So, either break out the board games (retro or new) or put a controller in your hand to try your skills at video games. Spend the night letting everyone choose their favorite game and then have a marathon night determining who is the ultimate champion. Everyone is sure to learn some new rules along the way.
Bake Off!
Since it’s the holiday season, it’s also a perfect time to bake some goodies. Break out the mixing bowls, cookie cutters, sheet pans and utensils to start your holiday baking. Rolling, kneading and shaping dough is not only a stress reliever, it also is a good bonding experience with kids. Either perfect a tried-and-true family recipe or create a new one all your own. And, when in doubt, of course, tons of icing and sprinkles makes everything taste and look better.
Movie Marathon
Do you love a good Hallmark holiday movie? Or, do you prefer the classic cartoons or holiday favorites? There’s a huge catalog of seasonal movies out there for you to enjoy, so get comfy, turn on the tv and get ready for some feel-good scenes. Grab your favorite blanket or throw, pop some popcorn, curl up on the sofa and imagine you’re in some of the amazing wintery scenery you’re watching. Maybe next year you will be.
Hot Cocoa Makes It All Better
A warm mug of hot chocolate always seems to put you in the holiday mood. Take your favorite winter beverage up a notch this year by creating a hot cocoa bar. Star with a selection of fun mugs, set up a bunch of fun toppings—marshmallows, whipped cream, peppermint, chocolate shavings, and caramel sauce—then serve up the dark liquid in this dipenser. Everyone can customize their drink and sip through the season.
