How to Give a Surprise Jewelry Gift

Now that you’ve acquired the gift, the next step is to plan the surprise. If you’re giving the gift during a holiday like Christmas, you could keep it simple and hide it as a stocking stuffer, or place the gift under the Christmas tree (if you really want to throw off the scent, put the jewelry gift in an oversized box). Of course, there are plenty of other surprise gifting scenarios. Here are some of our favorites:

• Hiding the Gift. Instead of the typical gift exchange, hide your surprise jewelry gift in a place your friend wouldn’t expect. We’re thinking in a commonly used cabinet, inside their shoe, next to the coffee machine, under their pillow, or any other innocuous place where they’re sure to notice the gift – just make sure you don’t lose track of it!}

• Scavenger Hunt. Who doesn’t love a good scavenger hunt? This is basically hiding the jewelry gift, but your friend will need clues to find it. Pay attention to their daily routine and leave a series of special messages to direct them to the final location. A variation of this would be the hot and cold game, or even texting them a series of directions.

• Unexpected Timing. If the gift is for a specific holiday or event, your loved one likely expects a gift, so change things up. If you usually exchange gifts over dinner, give the surprise jewelry gift in the morning. A smaller fake-out gift can also lead to a bigger surprise. Your loved one will think the gift-giving is all done, and then you bring out the jewelry gift as an extra special surprise.

• The Special Place. Choose a location that means a lot to you and your loved one, like restaurant where you had your first date, or the movie theater where you shared your first kiss, or even just their favorite park. This is the perfect strategy for surprising them with an engagement ring, and the memory-filled location will make the surprise that much more meaningful.
